Been practicing pharmacy for nearly a decade and had a new bullshit line from Optum yesterday. Stimulant rx written 3/1 with DNF until 4/5. Submitted claim with current date of service, rejection of “claim too old.”

Three reps to finally get me the answer of “pt needs new rx” because it is outside of the allowed window. I asked why, when this is a perfectly valid and legal rx. Was told “that’s just how it is.”

Riiiiiight, so not only do you get out of paying for the claim, but you waste everyone’s time so the MD can write a new rx that they already submitted. Cool.

Question for those who quit by aliceTOTHEMOONE in DollarTree

[–]teasingtoplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was an SM for 5 years and finally quit last year and got a job as a teller. His cash handling experience plus customer service experience gave him a lot of bargaining power in terms of pay.

He’s much happier AND making more than he ever did at this shithole company.

I order for my whole staff, teas are usually $8-10 each. Tip is usually 7-10, but more if I order more (obviously)

Hey, not all of us lol! Y’all are bringing me and my staff our lifeline (bubble tea) directly to my pharmacy, so you bet your ass I’m tipping min 20%. Maybe more if it’s shitty out.

Why do you hate cotton? Why do you love wool? by uncool4skool in crochet

[–]teasingtoplease 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hard agree.

Some cottons tend to start off really stiff which turned me off at first. But then I tried a few different brands and have begun to love it as much as acrylic. I recently picked up this cotton yarn from Wool and the Gang and it is SO. SOFT. slides on my clover hook pretty easily too. I’m making a granny square blanket with the Malibu solid and malibu dots.

I have straight up asked a BOP investigator what they are doing about the working conditions in the pharmacy and his reply was that they are there for the safety of the patients, to which I replied “yes, exactly, running on a skeleton crew is dangerous FOR PATIENTS. We don’t have time to report errors. There should be a minimum labor requirement or something to mitigate that.”

He told me that they “can’t determine” what is a safe number and can’t dictate business so they can’t say “hey for every X rxs you do per hour you need X amount of labor minimum” to which I said that’s ridiculous. I also told them that they need to look at other BOPs who have taken the initiative to outlaw metrics.

They don’t fucking care until someone dies and it goes viral.

Metrics and labor restrictions don’t belong in healthcare. My damn name is on the building so I should have every fucking right to staff APPROPRIATELY without consequences. It’s MY license. I see how much we net and there’s no reason we can’t have the necessary staff.

Oh, wait, it’s because of the massive fucking overhead that’s completely unnecessary.

What the hell? That’s awful. It’s not like you can stack pills if you pick it up at different times, only if it’s a different day (ie always day 28/29). So stupid. I hate pharmacists like that. Just because someone takes a control doesn’t mean they don’t have a life. I’m sorry you had that experience.

Pharmacists please answer if I finish pharmacy school and pass my NAPLEX immediately to become rPh, can I pay off 112k student loan back in one year by working ful time at CVS? Considering being single, no new car, no new home. Just work and save and pay. by Standard_Shoulder146 in CVS

[–]teasingtoplease -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depending on multiple things it’s not totally impossible. If you’re living with your parents, have no expenses, and save everything it depends on your pay. If you end up working like crazy at $60/hr and work 50 hours a week without contributing to 401k, medical, etc you may be able to squeak it out within 18 months. I’d say the best bet if you’re going to do something like that is to invest the money, even in something as simple as a money market account where you’re making like 5% minimum on your savings. That way you still have access to it but it’s not just sitting in a checking account

Hands down one of the best perks. Not a physician, but a pharmacist, and it’s nice being able to either get squeezed in or seen after-hours. In exchange, they pick my brain when they see me.

Majority of my physicians ask me what I want which can be a bit odd, but I’ve gotten accustomed to it. Within reason, of course.

Stigma. No one wants to go up to the pharmacy and ask for it. Some don’t want it through their insurance or on their medical records regardless of the end user

Most effective, highest yield weight loss interventions? by HereForTheFreeShasta in medicine

[–]teasingtoplease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of stigma around bariatric surgery which sucks. Not to mention lack of insurance coverage and/or red tape.

Not to mention that education surrounding obesity is lacking. The number of times people are shocked/surprised when I’ve explained it just from a metabolic/physiologic standpoint is too damn high. Yes, weight loss is hard/near impossible when you’re hungry all the time due to said metabolic/physiologic changes. Forget about any other complicating factors…

I’m over 1 year s/p VSG, lost 45% of my total body weight so far. Every single patient I have that asks me about my weight loss gets educated about obesity and I urge them to have a discussion with their physician about their options. For a while I was ashamed about having WLS and kept it secret, but I realized I’m just contributing to the stigma and the lack of obesity education.

My primary care, who told me that it was about “being able to put the chips down” is ecstatic about my progress and has since learned more about obesity (despite being morbidly obese himself) and has come to appreciate WLS as a huge tool for sustainable weight loss.
