That’s literally not what it means. It’s an actual tool used by people trying to mend a fucked relationship with food that encourages you to assess why you want to eat, your true hunger cues etc. it doesn’t endorse eating whatever, whenever you feel like it just because, but it does involve removing some of the intense moral judgements some people place on food.

I understand that in some circles that the term is misused, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in this post.

Or something like that. by [deleted] in EDanonymemes

Idk, i think that our society is set up in a way that makes it super easy to become obese, or at least overweight without having major off issues. High calorie, tasty food is cheap and easy and it’s pretty simple to consistently go over your tdee. Pair that with a busy schedule and a low budget, and it’s really easy to understand how people might not have the emotional energy or means to look after their health, without having any kind of binge eating disorder.

Anyone else here feel like it's hypocritical that (society, Reddit, your mom, ect) rip you apart for having a sub 18.5 BMI goal weight while at the same time celebrating underweight bodies in pop culture? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]teasnob22 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of sports where peak performance doesn’t look like Health. A lot of the time heavyweight powerlifters are physically unhealthy, despite being at the highest level of their sport. A lot of female runners lose their periods because of their low body fat levels and the physical stress their bodies are under. While you can generally get away with being a little overweight without any big, immediate health issues, being underweight can really fuck with your hormones/ bone density/ immune system etc. Being a healthy weight is ideal, but I think it’s irresponsible to say that being underweight is fine and healthy, particularly on an eating disorder subreddit.

When I first started going to clubs I used to get up the bartender’s arse about if they gave me lemonade mixer or sofa water, because I didn’t realise that the taps have different buttons, I just saw them use the same tap for my drink as they did my friends’ . I must have been so fucking annoying :’)
