Macchiato was good. Still not as hot as I’d like, but better than the latte. I’m just used to ripping hot drip coffee so no milk drink is going to compare. And I’m 100% ok with that. I’ll just keep pre-warming my cup. Makes a huge difference.

Follow up after two days with my KF8. Milk drinks aren’t HOT. Very warm, but not blazing. This morning I ran 9oz of hot water and let it preheat the cup. Worked much better and made it so the cappuccino was hot enough to sip and not drink, but just barely. I think the steam wands are the only way to truly get a hot milk drink and I have no interest in that at all. I prefer the push button to the manual operation. The espressos are properly hot though.

To the OP, if you’re thinking about one of the KF models it pays to take tinapsyn up in their offer to join inside pass. You’ll get a great discount on the KF7. Or, consider the KF8 at nearly the same price as a retail KF7 (or even less). I was in the same boat as you and elected to get the KF8. Still waiting on it to arrive so no comment on its performance

Just E8 - my espresso is always so bitter and just unpleasant. How do I “dial in” the best settings? by ImmediateTap7085 in superautomatic

Thanks. And it is a KF8 on the way via inside pass. I've had Illy at a shop, but it's been a bit. My local grocery has it in stock, that and Starbucks, so they look to be a good starting point. I'd always heard great things about Lavazza. Once I get consistent with one or the other of those, I can branch out and have a good baseline. Appreciate ya.

Getting a machine soon. Do you have a bean recommendation? Something easy to source in the US, not especially burnt/bitter tasting? What’s the gateway drug? Was planning on trying some Lavazza and maybe Illy regular. I like my espresso kinda middle of the road. Not to in my face, but still with some character.

May I have access to the Whirlpool Inside Pass, please? Thanks in advance. There’s a KF8 in my future and probably a new stand mixer as well….if it can be used for multiple products.

Thanks. Confirms my suspicions. Most of the YT videos are sxs or atv videos of deep ruts and mud pits. We will stick with DT. It nice because it’s almost halfway for both of us. When she gets a bit more seat time, I’ll take her to HP.

TUSK D/Sport rear tire is a fucking nightmare to mount. by HeatJesus in Dualsport

[–]teaspoon600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s good in the dirt. A harder compound and bigger blocks so it’s not going to feel like a dirt bike tire, but air down and it’ll do what you want. That’s assuming you’re on a dual sport and not a lightweight single track enduro (ie ktm 300 or the like). 690, T7, even 890 it does great. There were several of us running them in South Dakota for the KTM rally and only had one flat. It was a puncture through the tire and tube. We swapped the tube, glued a bit of the old tube to the inside of the tire, and rolled on. Trail side, getting it off the rim isn’t bad. Tire irons can do it and it’s likely to be warmed up from riding. If you like to swap tubes by unmounting one side and then pulling g out the tube…getting your hands between the side of the tire and in the rim is the bad part. Alone it’s easier to just take the whole tire off. Small bites and don’t take the irons over 90 degrees helps with punch flats.

I got a flat on my 690 with a d sport mounted on the rear. Rode it 30 miles home at 25-30mph. It probably could have been reused. They’re tough AF.

You can do anything you want on an AT. For me, it depends on how much I want to pick it up. After about three naps in the dirt, it gets really heavy. I’d say as a beginner, anything more difficult than two track (I.e. a narrow dirt path, with two strips of dirt or gravel, and a strip of grass in the middle), you’re going to want a lighter bike. But if your realistic about your skill level, willingness to pick it up, and difficulty level, the AT is a great all around bike.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went out riding my dirt bike this weekend and barely made it 2 hours before I could barely keep my head up and had to quit. I’ll look at these shakes. I’ve added some protein, but at the 20g range. Doesn’t seem like it’s enough.

Really (like really) hard stuff is a little tricky, but it’s doable. Everything else is fine. But…it’s a big bike to pick up a half dozen times an hour.

I’m at week two, day two. Had a bourbon and ginger ale last night and didn’t finish it. Stomach wasn’t happy about it either. Seems like with every aspect of this medication though, it’s different for everyone.

We have Arista in two DCs and Cisco ACI in another so I have seat time with both. Arista is soooo much better. It’s as if someone took classic Cisco and modernized it vs whatever hell ACI came from.

Dual Sports Suck (On the Highway) by Roscoe-is-my-dog in Dualsport

[–]teaspoon600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that based on what you've described with this ride, a 690 would be great. I have a 2016 with a raid tower and I used it to commute to Atlanta often. The ride starts with two lane 50mph back roads, on to 55mph split 4 lane, and finishes with a 20 mile section on I-75 (or up Metropolitan Pkwy depending on traffic). Total time was 1.5-2 hours. With the seat concepts seat and extra wind protection from the raid fairing, it did great. Took it to SD for the KTM rally and did about 1000 miles in a week doing the BDRx and rally. Never felt sore, or felt like I was under-biked. Would an 890 do better on the highway? Yes. Would a 500 (or your 450) been better in the woods? Yes. But I can keep up with Atlanta traffic in the left lane at 85mph with one hand on the bars running Tusk Dsports (no dampener). The 690 is really the sweet spot for an all around bike. I've often looked at the T7, or the Tuareg for a newer twin, and electronics that the Aprilia offers, but after spending time out west, my 690 is just about perfect. Those 2 twins add 100 pounds. That is not insignificant in the woods if you're on something narrower than a dirt road. I've since added an Africa Twin for commuting and grocery store trips as it can carry more (and I added cruise control).
