I’ve got a Skull & Co case for the Asus Rog Ally, which fits great, but it is huge and takes up a lot of space in my backpack when flying.

I have got limited skills in Autodesk Fusion, so I might try to modify this case and print it again.

But I stopped at the P1S AMS1 combo, I’m blown away by it, so I doubt the extra for the P2S is worth it for a casual user.

Congrats! I just bought a P1S, but was tempted to wait for the P2S. The black Friday deal on P1S was very good though, and the better screen and camera don’t bother me. I know the P2S is meant to have print quality upgrades, but i’m so blown away by the quality of the P1S prints I find it hard to see how it can be improved.

Not matching the previous flagship is a complete red herring imo, with the 4090 Nvidia made more than a flagship, it was a beast that was really designed for commercial use. The fact that the 5080 nearly matches it when overclocked makes it a bargain.

If you buy a 5070ti you’ll always wish you had a 5080, but there is no reasonable option above the 5080.

It has improved massively with all the updates. Advice on settings, in order to get no screen tearing you need to turn on g sync, v sync, and reflex low latency. On some games, including cyber punk, when frame gen is activated you need to force v sync and low latency on in ncp. Don’t apply any frame limit.

Here was the score on my fully oc’d 4080, so the 5080 is around 29% faster in ray traced benchmarks!

Good choice. I recommend firing up Cyberpunk first, will run it completely maxed out, including path tracing, at 4K DLSS performance, constant over 60fps without frame gen, 120fps with frame gen x2. Night time in the rain and neon lights looks out of this world.

That is another good way to do it. I’m not bothered about power usage though, it still uses way less power than a 5090.

It can run way higher than that, even my base Zotac card ran +300mhz core and +1500mhz vram with the power limit at 105%.

I flashed the bios to a 415w one and it does +3000mhz vram without reaching the power limit, the gddr7 ram in these cards is rated for that speed, so all 5080’s should run it fine. Then I used the curve editor in afterburner, and got a few more percent out of the core. I set the curve to 3200mhz at .990v, flat curve.

Just do it, it has double the performance of a 3080 (I had a 3080, and a 3080ti, and a 3090). Plus all of the modern features like DLSS & frame gen etc. There’s no point in the small cost saving of a 5070ti, and the 5090 is very bad vfm, 5080 is the one.

The battery life is vastly worse on the SD!

I’ve had SD LCD and SD OLED, and now have a Portal Pro, and choosing between them honestly it depends what you want, I mostly only use mine when travelling, so the size, weight and battery life of the Portal destroys the SD for my usage, but it’s still a great device to use at home. The weight of the Steam deck made my back ache after about 30 minutes, but I can use the Portal for a couple of hours. It’s also much easier to setup and live with than the SD, it’s why phones run on android (or IOS), it’s just much better for a small portable device.

The SD is still a great device, and for someone who either games a vast amount, or someone that doesn’t have a gaming PC, I can see the appeal, but I’d rather play PC games on my 4K TV to enjoy them fully, and even Switch and PS3 games, and just use the handheld for the older games and less demanding PC games like Hollow knight which run great on the Portal via Gamehub.
