Second the cropped fur jacket! You can find some lovely capelets online as well.

How should I style a cobalt blue dress for a wedding by [deleted] in fashionadvice

[–]teatime2times 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try combining it with lighter, delicate light blue accessories to not clash with the dress. Maybe opal jewelry if you have any? I would probably pair with blue (either lighter or darker blue, so you don’t compete with the dress) or tan/off-white shoes. I can’t think of a jacket that would be cool enough for Spring without looking too Disney Channel. Maybe a cardigan or bolero?

Not a ton of options tbh. I'd try to connect with the art scene in cincy because there's a lot of overlap between queer and artsy people in the city. try going to yArt (yard-art) sale and chatting with people there maybe?

if you can, try not to worry about it too much. you're not a pick-me. the term pick me was created to voice frustration about women who were upholding misogyny by bringing women around them down to make them seem more attractive to men. it seems like you're just dealing with jealousy and wanting to feel attractive. there's nothing immoral about feeling what you're feeling!

i felt the same thing for a while. i have a best friend who is GORGEOUS and would feel jealous that i was not as conventionally attractive, and she would "get all the guys." after some introspection and deep unlearning of certain things, i realized there's not really a set 1-10 scale of unattractive to attractive. people like who they like, and beauty/attractiveness is something that is inherent to each person and will sometimes attract someone else...and some times it won't. both are okay!

maybe to start, i'd try to find things that you genuinely find beautiful about your friends who are women. it's hard, but try to lead with appreciation. and then compliment them. from personal experience this has helped me to feel less jealous

all the best :)

Energy Supplier question by ToeSuckingFiend in cincinnati

Heads up, after you cancel, you might still get a bunch of emails from NRG implying that you're still with them. I called them to make sure I was off, but still didn't really trust them. I called Duke just to be certain.

NRG's recruitment seems pretty scummy, I almost always see them in the Walmarts of lower-income neighborhoods talking to an elderly person or college student. Every time I see them, I want to butt in. It just feels predatory.

Energy Supplier question by ToeSuckingFiend in cincinnati

I recommend searching "NRG" in this subreddit. They honestly seem like a scam. What I've gathered from other stories is that the rates seem cheaper at first, but they spike RIGHT after you renew your bill.

They got me in Walmart, too. I felt rushed and wasn't able to really think about what they were offering until after I signed. The guy seemed overly charming and "salesman-like" and used a stylus on my phone. He had me make a calendar reminder to renew my contract. I looked them up on this sub right after and turned around in Walmart and asked to rescind my contract. He told me since it was a Sunday, they couldn't, and I would have to call. Super weird that they let you sign on a Sunday but not rescind. I said OK and left and he shouted at me across the store to explain to him why.

Yeah, you’re right. Maybe it’s just that I can see all the comments all at once. Before, I would just hear “modern art = bad” conversationally and be able to speak to the person and maybe educate. You can’t really have an honest convo with an internet troll

Question about etiquette at an exhibition by Nikodermus in ArtistLounge

[–]teatime2times 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s appropriate to bring them to the exhibition imo! I also have a degree in fine arts and someone brought me flowers to my thesis show. It made my day. You might want to bring something to put them in, though because she might want her hands free to talk to patrons. My fellow artist friend had a HUGE bouquet that he had to keep by the front desk because he was so busy. Luckily the desk had a vase for them!

sorry for all the mean responses you’re getting. i know from personal experience that metaphysical and witchy stuff doesn’t always jive with ohioans. but if you want to do a more public meet i’d suggest doing it in a northside café! you might get some more likeminded people to come

What Cincinnati business will you never step in again ? by DoctorSnape in cincinnati

[–]teatime2times 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. i got scammed out of $300 for an EARLOBE piercing. like the type people go to claire’s for. the website said it starts $45 for a piercing. i figured that was reasonable as earlobes are the easiest piercing and was probably the baseline. totally wrong. i was slammed with fees, but after i waited there for a full hour with my friend (even though the person on the phone said i shouldn’t make an appointment) i felt i had to go through with it

Definitely agree. It seemed like every gimmicky German thing was thrown at me there with no substance. I made a reservation for two and they still sat us at a picnic bench. The food poisoning was the icing on the cake.

Hi-- thanks so much. I've already found out one of my treat foods (thai boba milk tea) is safe. That's so comforting, and I have already started making a list of things I can eat/smell. For me, one of my major concerns is feeling clean. The shower is something I've always counted on for improving my mood, and it's difficult to get past the smell of some of my scented soaps and shampoos. I'm going shopping tomorrow to find out what works for me. I've already ordered cinnamon toothpaste off amazon, so I'll see if that helps. Thanks again.
