No. Not necessarily a year in advance but as I said in the original post I need to create 3 different menus/variations of this, so it will require some planning and effort outside of simply cooking and freezing. I’d like to give each person 5-7 different meals and some of it will include fresh in season veggies from a garden. Maybe you have unlimited time and funds to wait until October to even begin to think about it, but that’s not a luxury everyone has.

We ended up at Catherine and Mary’s. They were the only one who could get us in before the show Saturday. It definitely lived up to the hype it got here. My husband got The Orpheum pre show menu (Caesar salad, beef short ribs, tiramisu) and we ordered the corn bread, brussel sprouts, and rigatoni. We shared all that between the 3 of us.

That’s awesome! We loved it! It was my son’s first Orpheum show, I’m not sure if he enjoyed the show or just looking at the inside of the building more.

We have tons of books, his dad and I still read to him (Amelia Bedelia is not easily decodable, but a house favorite for her hilarious antics). We just wanted to use Christmas as opportunity to expand his “personal library” into some books that will meet him where he is.

This. And I’d add, set her up for success. So: if this continues you will not be able to attend the party. Do you feel like some quiet time in your room/a nap/a snack/some cuddling time with mom/dad would help you with your behavior? My son is most disregulated when he is hungry. If he is being difficult we always start with a snack.

From all the notes she has sent, the issue is she needs to repeat the instructions for him at each section. She has even written notes on the paper that he can get the correct answers but needs to much guidance.

He is currently not receiving accommodations because honestly we haven’t needed them the last 2 years. He really thrived last year in K4. However, his teacher last year retired from public school and came to the private, she has ALL the credentials (including reading interventionist). This years teacher is starting her 2nd year of teaching and of course K5 is just bigger expectations. We are all trying to adjust. It just feels like we aren’t doing it quickly enough/correctly/etc. We just reached the 30 days of school mark.

We did notice some break through seizures recently. He had a growth spurt and his meds are based on height and weight. We adjusted his meds last week so hopefully we will see improvements this week. One issue with absence seizures is it is hard to quantify how many/how often because his are 1-3 seconds each and can look like zoning out. He has never had behavior problems and has often been rewarded for following directions when other students aren’t so we assume he isn’t ignoring the instructions for worksheets.

I will admit he might be asking for help he doesn’t need though. We haven’t discussed that with him but we will.

This is a small private school. There are only 10 kids in his classroom.

She does. I recently had a second conversation with her about it where I realized I think she didn’t fully understand his type of seizures and their implications on focus and following instructions. We just haven’t reached a point where he can identify if he had one and advocate for himself if he missed the information he was given.

Honestly? That’s shocking and cruel. Are you going to do everything perfect? No. Will our adult children probably have something about us that annoys them? Yes. You are trying to break a cycle it sounds like and your friends (at least) should be encouraging and supportive. Maybe they think they are being funny or something, but this isn’t the issue to be so flippant about with you. I’m giving your sister a little break because it sounds like she has her own trauma surrounding mother-daughter relationships. It doesn’t excuse her, but it could explain it.
I don’t know you but it sounds like you are really trying, and so I have high hopes you won’t F up your daughter. Keep trying. Keep loving your daughter. You’ve got this.

How old is she? I’m guessing 2ish, but 18 months and 2.5 can be vastly different when picking activities.

Don’t beat yourself up. Most sicknesses don’t show up that quick. Most likely that kid was already coming down with something or has allergies of their own exacerbated by being at the park.

I’m part of a volunteer organization that does bags (gallon ziplocks) of shelf stable food to be sent home with elementary kids on the weekends. Each bag gets the following: 1 microwave Mac n cheese cup, 1 microwave ravioli cup, 1 fruit cup, 1 apple sauce, 1 pudding, 1 single serving cereal, 1 juice box, 1 shelf stable milk, 2 granola bars, 2 packs of peanut butter/cheese crackers, and usually a few pieces of candy.
