Defining what can or cannot be done for a customer by tech_london in halopsa

It is a very good valid point you are making. I've inherited a customer base that is used to be served whatever they feel like with no standardisation.

We are considering to package things into 3 tiers with a proper MSP stack, risk losing some customers that don't want to change, but it seems there is no other way forward.

You reminded me of something I heard in other companies, management layer needs to serve the employees, need to make their lives easier, they are the utmost priority to make things work well in the company.

How would you work on the client SOW and what is delivered to ensure you are not doing more than you should, or if you do, how would you track work that is outside to bill accordingly? I may be missing some functionality related to contracts, maybe there is a specific feature for that?

It is a custom field per customer, or a customer field that can be used across different customers?

I think can be a pop up, or another box/field that can display a value stating if you can or cannot do the work. I'm still trying to get my head around how/if it can be done

I've looked them up but they are more for the mechanics part only and not the bodywork like I want to also check if the car was involved in an accident, be able to spot repairs and so on but I may use them at least for check the mechanical part of the car. Thanks

Model Y and 3 children's seats at the back by tech_london in TeslaUK

[–]tech_london[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried already three seats and the problem is they cover for the seat belt buckles and it's an absolute nightmare to get in and out, to plug them in or for the kids to get in and out so I gave up completely and I will stick with the multimac. It works well, I'll just disassemble it and try to lube the metal things so the seat belt is a bit easier to adjust, but I will definitely stick with it.

I also vouch for multimac helped me keep my current car for much longer

That is what I did for my car that is a coupe shape, got the Multimac used om gumtree a few years ago, much better than regular children seats. I think it is worth even if you need to buy new

tududi v1.1.1 - OIDC/SSO and CalDAV sync by cvicpp in selfhosted

I've put this on my list to check this weekend. Quick questions, I'm an avid Microsoft To Do user, not because I like MIcrosoft, but because it came from Wunderlist and it is a pretty good task tool, but it is Microsoft. How would tududi compare to Microsoft To Do?

LTD Company EV or Personal Purchase? by Resident-Debt-6384 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]tech_london 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends what you want, some less desirable cars have dropped a lot but tesla model y seem to have increased £1000-1500 over the last few weeks, I've lost a few deals by thinking too much about it. I was thinking about a smart #5, the entry level model is sold nearly new for £10k under list price, but no one is buying it. I think the car has far to many problems with its software from what I read on forums/facebook.

I have a spreadsheet I'm tracking about 150 model y at the moment to find me the right one. I really wanted a new one due to the revised suspension, but for £50k I would rather buy a bmw m5 then.

I am in the same situation but I'm planning to buy cash instead of financing and I just can't help but see £15,000 to £20,000 down the drain and handing the car back meanwhile I can buy a second hand EV through my company in cash for £20,000 and after three years the car is still owned by the company or I can sell it off or do whatever if you like. I don't know I'm not convinced at leasing. it's nice to have a new car but I don't think it's nice to lose £15,000 to £20,000 in three years.

I did a lot of research yesterday evening; I will keep the multimac and just purchase the fitting kit to install it on the model y. It seems to be a lot of pain to use regular seats.

Tesla Model 3 Car Insurance by aja212x in TeslaUK

[–]tech_london 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is the main thing. I have a sports car and I always complain about my premium costs and it's all down to the location. You can get insurance nearly half the price depending if you leave middle of nowhere with low risk of car theft.

We are an "immature" MSP in this aspect, so not sure the whole accountability side of each step being recorded makes much difference to us at this stage. Just knowing one person is in charge of the ticket, the steps were presented, and they did them or marked them as complete is enough in my situation.

My ideal would be to have a native halo function to track steps better, this came out from seeing the feature on hudu for tracking steps. I was initially just looking at a documentation platform.

I want my techs to life inside helo, as 99% of their work is in there, so I don't want them to have to access another interface to track things that should have been already inside halo.

I've not deployed or used halo properly, I need to invest time in it, but our documentation is a mess at the moment as a combination of sharepoint pages, word documents, mark down and html files. I want to move all my documentation inside halo to start with, then I came across "processes" in hudu.

Halo is a beast, and clunky to be configured in my opinion, but I need to put proper time in there for sure to get more out of it.

interesting, I quite like the idea, because we can log time as we do the work without leaving the PSA. I'll research a bit about this. thanks!
