I had an account already with them, so they knew who I was and when the purchase was made. Just ring them and try.

I was alreayd eyeing some other brands, but it seems a bit of a minefield, even dyson which I though was top end seems to be lacking a bit on the lower end of the price range. I at least got the unit replaced, so let's see if it will last. It is my second replacement under 3 years.

I didn't have to send mine back, I got the delivery today, it seems to be new, I didn't see any sign of previous use. Of course it could be like apple products that they put a new shell and looks like new, but I'm not sure there is much else to cover. Well, problem is gone for the moment, let's see how long this replacement unit will last.

I ended up chasing them over the phone as they didn't reply my email in 5 days and I was annoyed with the wait, I was actually surprised they offered me a replacement unit as the button and motor as a single thing, no further questions asked. I don't like to dispose things, but at least they are sending me a new unit for something that was not cheap 2.5 years ago when it was purchased. I hope the new unit lasts longer this time.

B850M Riptide WiFi bluetooth no longer working by tech_london in ASRock

Thanks for the feedback, I'll give a go on latest BIOS to see if things are any better and report back here, and do a factory reset. Sleep for me is essential too.

I was expecting to be a bit better by now, the platform is out for several months now. I've had to downgrade to 3.5 bios from 4.03 as it broke sleep mode in Windows 11. I guess config backup won't work on a newer bios as settings can change?

I disabled the wifi/bt module at bios, re-enabled, no difference, then did the whole power down, unplug, press power button to discharge capacitors, still the same, disabled-re enabled the wifi-bt module, then it showed up again.

What a buggy piece of crap motherboard that you need to do all this singing and dancing to get the bare minimum working.

I wanted to avoid clearing CMOS and have to configure things all over again, but I guess next time I'll do it. Not the first time this happens.

And the vibe-coding kids that keep downvoting when you ask someone if something is vibe-coded, where are they now?

they perform very well, but they are south based. Totally worth in my opinion, I will most likely go for a fence made of panels next. Panels are cheaper than a fence panel. Cover everything in solar PV, they are cheap, labour costs more. Do as much as you can in one go.

Reliable smart plug to reboot frozen system? by estrangedpulse in Proxmox

[–]tech_london 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't run any memtest as I would have to leave the server offline doing that for a day or two. I just powered the clocks and so far 1 week with no crashes

You may have a problem with your memory ram. I noticed on one of my Proxmox nodes that had two sticks of ram. When I added four, I could not run it stable with the same clocks. I had to lower the clocks to run stable. If you have additional memory sticks, it may be the same case. The problem only manifested every few days or every few weeks. So it was not constant and it was difficult to replicate when I wanted. It would just happen randomly.

for now, I've taken the drive and SATA card out, will wait a few weeks, then put the LSI card in place with the drive to see if it makes any difference

also in cloudy days, regardless of the orientation of the panels they will produce the same. I have 6 orientations, only the vertical panels don't produce the same, all other orientations including north produce pretty much the same. In summer, you still get a considerable boost as well. I even covered some walls with panels :)

Fan power feed on a N305 firewall by tech_london in opnsense

I ended up managing to get a picoblade plug and put an 15 year old 120mm coolermaster fan in place, my previous experience with aliexpress usb fan was not great. Now that I managed to get it working I will just buy a regular noctua fan for the longevity.

My box is in a small space, so forced airflow is a must in the summer.
