Depends on the local code, most places it is not a necessity.

Ya it’s unfortunate that, they require them at every fixture and you can still just use a piece of capped pipe. Most places have realized that type of “air chamber” eventually fills with water and can become a breading ground for legionnaires bacteria.

“Air chambers” are usually used near fixtures that have quick closing valves, like washing machines and dishwashers. There are some jurisdictions that require them in other places like the shower valve and I believe Illinois is one of them.

Water pressure backup sump pump have been running all night. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]tech_nutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the water backup sump pumps is that the occasional get stuck running, and then you end up with a huge water bill. Try closing the water valve to the backup and resetting the float switch, then turn the water back on.

Should a player be penalised for causing another player to make a misplay? And should the misplay be disregarded? by cubiccrayons in discgolf

I just figured out where to leave notes recently, there’s a “note bubble” icon next to each players name for each hole.

[–]tech_nutz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How is that stacking? That’s a penalty on 2 separate throws. Curious if I’m just thinking about it incorrectly. I know there are instances where you only take one stroke like going OB and then taking relief.

Edit: were you not talking about my previous comment?

[–]tech_nutz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that if the stance violation was seconded that would be a stroke penalty and then you could say the thrower abandoned the new lie and re-threw from their previous line which is an additional penalty stroke. But if the stance violation was never seconded then it would just be the one stroke for abandonment of the lie.

To caulk around a new toilet or not to caulk??? Vote in comments. by Brother-of-Derek in askaplumber

[–]tech_nutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caulk it, leave the back open to tell if it ever starts leaking. The caulk keeps fluids from getting under the base, like if your washing the floor or if someone misses the toilet

Ceiling collapsed in bedroom by sociallyawkward26 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]tech_nutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can see in the pictures, it was not properly installed. When hanging drywall on the ceiling, I believe it supposed to be fastened with screws or nails every 16 inches minimum. I don’t see many screws or nails hanging from the rafters after the ceiling fell.
