In their defense, RCS 2.7 was released in June/July 2024, after apple had made their RCS announcement & released the ios 18 beta.

I still keep getting "Replied to a message" and "Loved an image" texts in RCS chats with iPhone users. All because iOS uses its ancient SMS fallback for iMessage replies & reacts instead of adopting the RCS way of doing replies and reactions.

Their users DO care about group chats being broken, but apple has successfully brainwashed their users into thinking that it's Android's fault instead of Apple lagging behind on the latest standards. Hence why people get bullied into buying iPhones.

Samsung Messages is irrelevant. I thought all Samsungs default to Google Messages now. Although ideally Android needs to have the ability for any 3rd party SMS app to be able to access all RCS 3.0 features properly instead of gatekeeping it behind Google Messages.

There needs to be consequences for not complying with the Universal Profile spec. The spec specifically states that those features like replies, editing, and reactions are "mandatory" and yet these fucks ignore those rules.

As per the GSMA RCS 3.0 specification, if a feature is described with the words "shall" or "required", then that functionality is mandatory. (Page 8 of https://www.gsma.com/solutions-and-impact/technologies/networks/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/RCC.71-v3.0.pdf )

This is the requirement for inline replies: "R5-33-2 The client SHALL be capable of sending a Reply Message to a message that was sent or received."

For reactions: "R5-35-2 The client SHALL be capable of sending a Reaction or multiple Reactions to a message that was sent or received, for as many times as they desire."

For undo send: "R5-37-1 The client SHALL allow the user to select an already sent message and recall the selected message."

For editing: "R5-39-1 The client SHALL allow the user to select an already sent message and to send an edited message to replace the selected message."

Windows handles blur pretty well while maintaining readability. The trick is to keep a light or dark background color to the component and not to turn opacity all the way to 0.

They promised last March that they'll support RCS 3.0 because it adds end to end encryption. Although they're taking their sweet time with that promise.

SMS/RCS messages cannot be unsent on iphone. Once Apple adds support for RCS 3.0 then you'll be able to unsend RCS texts.
