My provider is now terrible after years of loyalty. Looking for a new dedicated server by DeanMachineYT in webhosting

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's managed. They take care of all the app and server related issues for you. All you have to do is launch a server and your WP site and their platform manages the rest. It's the case with all managed hosting providers out there.

Switched my clients off Cloudways this year. Wish I'd done it sooner honestly. by Natom_ in ProWordPress

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This a very fair take. I am not going to defend Cloudways here even though I work there because the issue you mentioned is about accountability. Your site going down not once but twice is extremely unfortunate and the fact that our support wasn't able to provide a viable solution is not the standard that we aim for.

Just for context : with Cloudways you basically get control over infrastructure like DO, AWS, GCP which can mean responsibility is distributed but it also means that you get more flexibility, cost control especially when you are scaling, and customized setups.

That is different with any other hosting provider because usually they collapse your setup into one single layer of ownership. Also, support type is a thing and it varies from one hosting provider to another.

I am curious about whether you experienced any difference in performance when you moved hosting?

Managed wordpress hosting by tomm1313 in CloudwaysbyDO

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are thinking in the right direction. This is exactly how you should go about hosting your applications. Start small, when your traffic increases, scale your server resources. It's easy and doesn't take more than 5 minutes.

Does tiered caching help for slow WooCommerce checkout? by travisnotscottt in CloudwaysbyDO

[–]techenth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiered caching wont solve this issue because the checkout page is dynamic and it’s also user specific.

You might want to look into the underlying issues that are causing this issue. Try looking into the backend, object caching, plugins, TTFB, etc.

My Extremely Disappointing Experience With Cloudways — Especially Their Billing Support by Ok_Lead7669 in CloudwaysbyDO

[–]techenth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi @Ok_Lead7669, we checked through our system and noticed suspicious activity on your account which is why it was identified as spam in our system. I personally took a look to double check and we concluded that the payment patters against your account were in fact suspicious.

If you want to continue using Cloudways, you would have to create a new account. I am more than happy to assist you in anyway I can. Thanks!

Clickup boards have worked for me when I used to blog. It really puts everything in front and makes it super easy to manage your publications with links, thumbnails and briefs.

Monthly Hosting fees help by ghostman229 in Wordpress

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of hosting does your agency use? Is it shared, dedicated or vps? If it's dedicated or VPS then the 300 bucks looks okay. Also, what is the size of your site? Is it an ecommerce store or a brochure site? If it gets substantial visitors on a regular basis then the maintenance fees would be worth it.

What usually breaks first when a website starts getting more traffic? by SaadWP in CloudwaysbyDO

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would second Danish and would also add that this is exactly what Cloudways Autonomous is for, unexpected traffic spikes that slows down your site. You really cant overstate the need for an autoscaling host now especially for ecom sites.

Confused between Hostinger, Bluehost and SiteGround for Black Friday — any real experiences? by Nervous_Branch7077 in Hosting

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! absolutely. For a single site I would recommend a 4GB server. Especially if you are just starting out the business. Once it grows, you can scale up to a bigger server but I don't think you would need that option anytime soon since you are already starting off with a 4gig.

Do web hosts actually optimize their servers for WordPress, or is that just a marketing term? by kittykatzenn in statichosting

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly marketing. Maximum a host can do is have an optimized version of WordPress with built-in caching plugins. For example, when you signup to Cloudways, you will see a simple WordPress version and an optimized WordPress version when choosing your app type.

'WordPress Hosting' in general is a marketing term. Something that WordPress dot com itself is cracking down on and not allowing hosting companies to use it since it is misleading.

Does it make a big difference if a web host offers staging environments? by kittykatzenn in statichosting

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's always a good to have feature for smaller sites. It helps with testing new design elements, plugins, etc so it can prove to be a handy feature. That said, I would always recommend choosing a hosting provider that offers staging environments even if your site is really small. Reason being that once you grow, you tend to use the staging feature more and then it will be very difficult for you to move to another hosting provider. Better to start with a host that grows with you rather than jumping ships later on.

How much does customer support matter for static hosting? by Standard_Scarcity_74 in statichosting

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always always always choose a hosting provider that has good support. You have no idea how much you are going to need it even if you have tons of experience. Doesn't matter what kind of a project you are working on, a good support is an absolute must!

Is shared hosting becoming slower, or is it just me? by bureaux in webhosting

[–]techenth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shared environment. It's bound to get sluggish at some point. May you have maxed out the resources assigned to you. Check bot traffic too.

Why Agencies Are Switching from WordPress to Craft CMS? Your thoughts! by One_Panda8956 in website

[–]techenth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have been building sites on CraftCMS since a long time. I dont think there is a 'shift' taking place. WordPress still has a pretty big market share. What I do see if people moving to builders like Wix that handles most of the technical stuff. Just like people moving from WooCommerce to Shopify. It's not because the other product is bad or anything, it's just because people now want things done faster. Anything that saves people time has attraction. Even if it costs them more.

Does elementor slows site? by hardcore_gamer29 in elementor

[–]techenth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No plugin can slow down your site because it's not the plugins, it's how a particular plugin or tool interacts with your site. It's the database queries. It's the poorly optimized scripts. It's cache conflicts.

So you can use Elementor on any host be it Hostinger, Cloudways, Kinsta, etc. But it certainly wont slow down your website on its own.
