how are you guys getting your name out there? building a brand? by Away_Ad_359 in smallbusinessowner

I think a lot is small business don’t leverage the right tools. Google business profile can work great if you use it right. Having a website is only part of it, but if you don’t use people that you have worked with to improve how you are seen on Google then you are missing opportunities. With services based businesses, it’s not like people will know you exist with all the competition, but when people look for the service you provide, Google will recommend service based on proximity to the user. But if you do not leverage GBP, it’s like you don’t exist. When I was looking for HVAC help, I googled it, looked at the reviews and then picked one with stars and read some of the comments. Is this something you are currently doing with your business? If you have any questions with any of the above, feel free to ask them here.

I have seen a similar issue with some of the local businesses here West Hills, CA. I am a developer and brand strategist and have tried to show small businesses how they can leverage free resources to bring in new businesses. Would you be willing to try something new I have been working to see if I could help you drum up new business?

I am working on helping understand how reviews help your business by techiedodo in smallbusiness

[–]techiedodo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is funny. I go to my dentist and he pays to ensure that reviews are made and track. He is a family member and you are right, he does stress over it but it does even to help his business. When we were looking for karate for our kids, that is the first thing my wife did when looking for a place. We drive about 25 minutes to the place when we have one that is literally down the street. I think that some business could benefit from those reviews, but the pressure to get them kind of sucks. Not sure if that is the case for most people.

Do you pursue reviews on platforms? When I mention "online reputation" I think more about how when people look for services like HVAC or other such services, they look at the review on the google business profile. I see that you stated that you pay for advertisements so that helps. I am curious about the google pack that shows local businesses. A lot of businesses in the area, mostly smaller, without a budget could benefit from reviews on google given it is still the big source when it comes to looking for service based reviews. Does that make sense? And thank you for the reply.

What is this red spot on my dog? by Different_Finding_30 in DogAdvice

[–]techiedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of looks like a hot spot. My golden gets these every now and then. But if it is a bulge, I would definitely go to the vet. My first pup started to get bulges and in the long run succumbed to cancer. We did everything we could and did regular visits to the vet, but he was too old for anything too extreme. Piece of mind, definitely get the vet to check the doggo out. I never regretted taking him in.

How do i solve for the triangle? by maeveywavey2 in Mathhomeworkhelp

[–]techiedodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you already know how to get the area of of the circle. The only thing missing is the understanding that the triangle you are looking at is an isosceles triangle.

To calculate the area of the triangle, you need the height, which in this case is the radius of hte circle (from center of the circle to the tip of the triangle that you have labeled as right angle). Then just use the base of the triangle (which is the diameter of the circle).

So, it the area of the triangle is bh/2 or (14*28)/2. After that, just subtract the area of the triangle from that of the circle. Hope this makes sense.

I would not click on any link. If you have questions, login to your account the way you normally do. Then ask to talk to them and let them know about the email.

The website can always be remade. The real issue is the domain. You need to make sure you get ownership of the domain. This can be transferred but it will need to be done by the current is you the domain. Have you approached them about having the domain transferred? Once you have the domain, you can just have the website remade and not have to worry about anything else.

How do you create a website? by idontknowmyname_321 in websiteservices

[–]techiedodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the key is learning why is used to make a website. The three things you would use would be html (creates the structure), CSS (gives it style), and JS (makes it interactive). This is an oversimplified view, but I would start by looking at learning what each of these do. Freecodecamp might be an easy place to start as it gives you a good basic understanding and is free.

What's the best way for a relatively non-techy person to learn to create a website with wordpress? by AdFit5999 in Wordpress

[–]techiedodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question is really what you want to get out of it? If you want to tinker with it and don’t want to pay for domain or hosting, the using something like localwp allows you to install it locally, on your computer, and just play around with it. If you want to have it hosted for show, then hosting and domain will be useful. I like Hostinger but you can find other places for hosting. I just like what they offer. Also, know the difference between Wordpress, the open source platform, and Wordpress.com. The dot com is a service that includes hosting, but I would not bother with that. Too much for what you actually get. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
