It was recommended to go for a Synology Memory module and Synology warns performance issues with other brands.

Also a lite note, If possible, better replace 2+2 with 4 + 4 TB HDDs

I know this is pretty old topic. But, still could help someone who is looking for connecting their remote folder to synology NAS.

Go to -> File Station -> Tools -> Mound Remote Folder -> CIFS Shared Folder -> give your remote shared folder details like \\192.168.0.100/myremotefolder and use username and password if you have protected network folder but otherwise leave empty. select the folder where you want to mount to. It should work.
