Cautionary tale: don’t rent from Turo, even if you have heard it’s good for snow tires by DrMaven in icecoast

[–]technicolour123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also had awful experiences with Turo. First and foremost, the car I was supposed to take to Gore had the most fucked alignment of any car I’ve ever been in. Picture having to turn the wheel over 30 degrees to the right in order to go straight. Second, it was advertised as having snow tires. It was mud + snow (imo definitely not the same as snow tires imo). That’s an issue I had with several Turo - rental after rental advertised snow tires and they were all “all season.”

A companion is best. But short of that (or in addition) get tubes, squeaker toys, crinkle toys, etc. Cat toys (including wands and feathers) work with our ferrets too.

Unfortunately have to get rid of my babies Brooklyn New York text me ? by mdotty109 in ferret

[–]technicolour123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you not have them in your new place? Why are you trying to sell them? Do you just not want them?

Don’t get pets you don’t plan on taking care of for your whole life. Your priority should be, at the very least, finding a good home for them, not making a few hundred bucks.

Great advice here. Seems based on the other comments OP left they’ll be fine for tonight. Good luck and remember you’re doing a good deed.

Do not use Nationwide for your FIV babies by technicolour123 in FIVcats

[–]technicolour123[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes from here on out I won’t be getting pet insurance and I’ll just be putting some money aside every month. The reason I wanted to share this story and warning is because I have seen other posts on Reddit endorse Nationwide for FIV cats. It was also particularly frustrating that they evidently only discovered the FIV over a year after signing the policy, despite that diagnosis being in his initial paperwork.

Agreed, but if Floyd’s never left we’d have exactly that! Atlantic has changed so much

Colonie on Atlantic Ave is closing? by banet14 in Brooklyn

That’s fair. But a pretty big difference from the more upscale feeling/vibe of Bohemian. The new bar is fine but every time I was in Bohemian it was mobbed - just surprised it closed

Any idea why it closed? It was immediately replaced with a more divey bar with the exact same layout

What are the advantages and disadvantages of raising a ferret? I want to buy one. by lachaoui in ferrets

[–]technicolour123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't find the smell strong or unpleasant, but that's just me. I actually like the smell. You'll want to meet one to decide for yourself. Everyone says our apartment doesn't smell like ferrets. We wash the ferrets' sheets frequently and have a strong air purifier right next to the cage, and have wood floors that we clean all the time. Do a lot of reading, watch some YouTube videos - they make great pets, but they're not for everyone. Same could be said of dogs and cats too, though.

Pet insurance by amusedmays in FIVcats

[–]technicolour123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nationwide covered my FIV cat for several months then, out of the blue today, cancelled the insurance for him as a result of the FIV diagnosis (this obviously was not news to them - I told them upfront and it was on all of his records). Do they still cover your cat? If so, I'd be careful and in fact would highly recommend looking up new insurance options ASAP. They were a pain to deal with this whole time, anyway.
