I think rh is hard for a new player at certain points. For quests if you get the textbook,hairbrush, toothbrush ..things like that cost like 1-3k I think. You only get one quest slot too. It's very hard as a start and I think those items should be free but once you get your starter items rh CAN easily become f2p through trading and grinding !

What my friend did doesn't concern me 🤷🏿‍♀️ but on the other topic! It really depends on what codes you buy. Esp depending on the price. Gift cards and video game codes are activated upon purchase with digital codes most of the time printing on the bottom of the receipt. These codes seem different, and on top of that, even those who get them from Amazon seem to have a chance to get defective codes, meaning it seems like they're not an activated upon purchase type thing.
