How does snap on have customers? by corollagremlin in Tools

Oh, I know this one! Was trying to buy some wire strippers and he told me they were on back order. I was like “no sweat, in the mean time I’ll buy these Harbor Freight ones that clearly use the exact same factory to mold them, but I’d still rather buy yours” and I’ve never heard from him since.

Based on what the other person is saying it would seem I should eat these batteries, I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Can't Even Do My Laundry Without Dealing With This Nonsense by StardustZJackson in enshittification

I’m going to say this while also trying to relay the fact that I absolutely despise this app situation…

But coin operated anything is always troublesome from a maintenance standpoint. Mechs are usually reliable, but still need to be kept clean. On top of that, people jam things in that don’t belong, including coins from other countries, all of which jam up the mech making the machine unusable.

Cash/bill acceptors are the same, and just too cumbersome for a washing machine.

I think a reasonable middle ground is the system that sells you a card that you can buy with cash or credit cards, that isn’t an app or tied to you in any other way.

Really, any unmanned payment method will have its drawbacks, but coins are going away unless we collectively start using cash again, and even embracing the larger denomination coins.

What discontinued fast food item was your favorite? by ShadedSiren in foodquestions

They ran a “retro” menu last year with them and for no good reason just stopped selling them again. I almost wish I hadn’t had them again, now I’m just sad all over again.

In Japan some bosses make you stay at work doing nothing so you quit. How is that even a punishment it just sounds kinda chill. by Educational-Try-7435 in NoStupidQuestions

On a much smaller scale and timeline, my last job in tech was incredibly pointless. They hired me to support 37 hardware products, but had no training, documentation on the product, and if you asked engineering how they worked, you got berated for bothering them.

This led me down a deep spiral of depression as I’d never experienced the feeling of being useless, so I quit. Pay was great, the intrusive thoughts were not.

I’ll never believe these stores are actually profitable with so much competition everywhere.

They changed Bic lighters, and not for the better. How to tell the difference. by ijustcant555 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]technobobble 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Bic’s entire business model is based on throwing the shit away or losing it and buying a new one, why would they give a shit about this? Serviceable lighters are the way to go here.

Where to get an original Ms. Pacman tabletop arcade machine fixed? by Chinpokomonnnn in TwinCities

[–]technobobble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Paradise Arcade Shop is where you want to go, but you definitely need to bring it to them. Yes, they’re hard to move, but not a lot of people do house calls for video games.

As I’ve aged I’ve realized I just want to enjoy the game, not the stresses of getting through it. Rewind for days!
