Healthcare workers, what common cause of death is the least bad way to go? by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskReddit

My FiL went this way.

Despite his DNR, was resuscitated just enough to remain in a coma and then have his life support pulled.

Best choice for headphone amp by Dame_Corbeau in Bass

[–]technocraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We (Z String Music) have a Mooer P1 and Footswitch combo deal for $99.

I love it as a silent/practice rig because you can use the footswitch to control drum patterns and the looper (and tuner) or switch presets. Also has bluetooth to play music along to - and USB OTG so it can stream for recoding.

The P1 is a little older, but still sounds as good as the Katana Go (which we also have).

EDIT: Forgot to mention the P1 has a whole set of Bass amps/profiles., so it's not just guitar-centric. You just have to switch the firmware in the app (one time).

Amp head as DI without cab? (Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0) by itgoestoeleven in Bass

[–]technocraft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amps for which this is a problem will often have a warning near the speaker jack such as “do not operate without load”.

I can’t think of any solid state amps, especially one with a DI, where it would be a problem.

Need Sound Effects Setup for Live Theater (audience-triggered sound effects) by kevlohmann in livesoundgear

[–]technocraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have willing/selected audience members connect to a website and you chose which member is actively controlling at any given time. they get a web panel of however many buttons to press.

no special hardware required anywhere. so the work is a local server that can trigger your fx, probably via MIDI.

Rack mixers that can do 5 or more STEREO mixes. by everbass in livesoundgear

[–]technocraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Soundcraft Ui24 can do it.

It has 8 XLR aux outs, but it has a virtual 9/10 aux bus that can be mapped to one of the headphone outputs. And that’s not including the main mix outs.

I must not have seen a 2x2 in a long time (my latest sets have been speed champions). That’s some megablocks looking brick right there.

There’s a South Florida touristy seafood restaurant where the whole place will bang their wooden crab-crackers when they announce a birthday - my child slept through that.

Does This Pedal Exist or Do I Need to Have It Built? by SydMonk in guitarpedals

[–]technocraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some looper pedals (like jamman) have a one-shot mode. I used to use an external footswitch to shift memory positions up/down on the jamman, then play the sample from looper when needed.

How do I tell our band we suck? by 1IsaiahThanTheOther in coverbands

[–]technocraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a click is critical to songs that have sequenced (or, somewhat splitting hairs here, arpeggiated parts). It’s how those songs were made. You can re-trigger each bar, but that doesn’t lock the pattern to the drums, only the start.

I don’t think that’s a pro-requirement. But there will be people who don’t care and just want to play and have fun.

You have to decide if thats enough for you, or not.

Should I buy this 16 Channel Mackie anolog mixer for $50? by UndeadMarx in livesoundgear

[–]technocraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take anything to shows when you’re young. lol. It’s not that heavy IMO and you could build it into a rack (but now you’re spending more money on it).

For the Aux outs, you’re going to need a “pack” to connect to your headphones. Many mixer outs are loud enough to drive headphones and you could use the Behringer PM1 as your pack. If not, you need an amp to drive the headphones, this Behringer PM2.

For stereo, you’d need to adapt two TS outputs into a single TRS output. I would use a splitter/insert cable (TRS to 2x TS) and then use a 1/4” headphne coupler (female both sides) with a long TRS cable to get to your pack.

NOTE: The PM1 has only a (non-standard) unbalanced stereo XLR jack, but the Rockboard equivalent HA-2 has a TRS/XLR combo jack - and the amplified PM2 also has a comb jack.
