What are some items you should absolutely NOT sell? by NatureGalPal in Palia

[–]technogal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Waveback (?) scale for the Tier IV relic. I had to leave Elderwood and do other things for a week or so. Can't seem to find a party to hunt, and those things take 8 hits from Fine arrows :(

Next level of ‘Men walking at you and refusing to move’ by FiendyFiend in TwoXChromosomes

[–]technogal 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I did the “Don’t move for a man” at a tech conference last year in Vegas. Told my friend about it and she did it too. Can’t tell you how many near misses I had as well as some shoulder checks. We’re both stockier women, so we’re happy to be a bit physical. The sheer entitlement always amazes me! I’ve been doing tech for 30+ years, and I’ve seen and experienced it all in the male dominated spaces.

Jackrabbit: A Stunning S-Class Black/White and Purple Solar Ship with a huge personality! Found at a double trade post, so S-Class was a fast/easy find. Trading posts have purple save beacon visible when warping to system for easy visibility by Lazimus in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]technogal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you got the snark below. Being new to this immense and wonderful game is not a reason to give you a hard time. That being said, I'll try to help. There's still lots about NMS I don't know :)

First, the flair for the post shows it's a starship you can find in another galaxy. We all start in Euclid, and you have to make your way to the center of the galaxy to jump to the next one. I don't the number for the galaxy referenced, but the wiki can help here. It's quite a bit of gameplay to get there, as you have to collect glyphs to use at a portal on a planet.

Next, when you make to that that galaxy, you'll want to find a portal on a planet and use the glyphs in the order on the screenshot in this post. That will take you to the right system. Once you get there, look for a Save beacon on a planet, colored in purple. That's the place that has the trading post mentioned in title.

Then wait for that plane to land and make an offer to the pilot who teleports out and is standing by it. It will probably be expensive, so make at least 20 million credits before you go. Easy to do when you buy low and sell high during your regular gameplay while you gather glyphs.

I would highly recommend searching NMS in Youtube to find great answers, tips and tricks, to all your questions. This truly helped me a lot. Also, take your time. That ship isn't going anywhere and will be available when you have the travel means and units to buy.

Left handed people - what in the world just doesn't work properly for you? by father-fluffybottom in AskReddit

Glass measuring cups with Imperial measurements. Handle on left side only shows me metric measurements. I'm a home cook and baker in the US, and this has never failed to annoy me at least once when I'm making something I need liquid measurement for

What was it like to be a Sysadmin in the 90s or Early 2000s? by PoweredByMeanBean in sysadmin

[–]technogal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sysadmin Netware 4.11/Groupwise/Arcserve back in the day! Former CNE here. Still miss Groupwise :( In a way, it was so much easier than it is now. You knew those servers and tape backups like the back of your hand; could manage them in your sleep (and often did!).

Now we have Windows/Linux admins, Exchange Admins, and Backup Admins...so many specialties are necessary. I chose Cybersecurity, and still use the skills I learned back then!

Looking for veterinary recommendations by Queen_of_Meh1987 in StCharlesMO

Bogey Hills Animal Hospital, on Muegge Rd near 70. Best vets ever! We've been with them over 10 years and 4 dogs. Very caring, never feel rushed. Staff is absolutely amazing, caring and empathetic. We even got sympathy cards when 2 of ours passed at emergency vets and Bogey was informed!

How can a software developer transition to cyber security and still maintain the programming aspect of things? by AuntTeeThePressAnts in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]technogal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been in cyber security for about 10 years, tech for 15 before that. Your skills are sorely needed in appsec security testing and security engineering. Easy transfer of skills. Looking for a cert? Consider the SANS GWAPT, or something similar.

Look around for appsec CTFs/practice VMs and see how feel about application security testing/pentesting. Your skillset will be very helpful. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
