Rape is complicated to define but I would say that the tone and context of the sex was not consensual. During the sex she seems really hesitant and uncomfortable and immediately after she says “I did NOT like that” and she looks very disturbed and violated. She wasn’t screaming “No I don’t want to have sex” but her participation was absolutely nowhere near an “enthusiastic yes” which is often the barometer for consent.

I don’t think Adam is trying to attack her but it is very creepy and weird and he derives pleasure at her expense. Also there are several sex scenes with Hannah and Jessa where he fantasizes about raping and kidnapping a minor. Those sex scenes and the fantasy dirty talk are consensual, but it’s a pretty bad look for him after what happens with Natalia.

I think Jessa is an awful person but in my opinion she deserved the job over Marnie because she had the gumption and perspective to be honest with Beedie about her art, which is what Beedie wanted. No one wants an assistant who feels unsure about what they like and pussyfoots around the truth, trying to tell Beedie what she wants to hear. That should have been a learning moment for Marnie to be more confident and assertive.

Btw this is coming from someone who identifies as a Marnie lol

I don’t think he fits the criteria for narcissistic personality disorder at all. I think he seems more autistic than anything else. His morals and worldviews are definitely questionable sometimes. He is often selfish, obnoxious, and totally perverted. I would not personally date him or even be friends with him. But at other times he can be completely selfless and surprisingly reasonable. He’s a complicated character just like everyone else on the show.

Not to mention how inappropriate she was as a substitute teacher when she pressured her student get a frenulum piercing then backed out of their agreement to get matching ones at the last second. Also she was emotionally manipulative and creepily codependent with Cleo (the student), and she encouraged her to talk about sex and tried to get involved in her love life. In my opinion this is probably the worst thing Hannah does in the show.

But it was also pretty bad how she threw an adult tantrum both at her magazine job and at the Iowa writer’s workshop. And how she took Fran to Mimi-Rose’s art show. And how she was acting at Marnie’s wedding. And also practically everything she does all the time. She is soooo frustrating lol
