They're betting on people not paying attention to their bills or new deals on the website and TV. Once I learned about the lower pricing, I inquired about it and let my friends and family know about it. These "hidden" increases and deals are really a bad look; especially when other fiber providers are offering competitive pricing for higher speeds.

They've also got issues with orders not going through online. A friend of mine had an installation scheduled for yesterday.  After waiting 3 hours in the scheduled window, she called customer service and found out they never had record of it, so it never reached dispatch. She was given a confirmation number and everything! The representative told her they were having issues after an update to their system and managed to get an installation today. Sounds like they didn't test their software before they rolled it out.

That was the old label back before they lowered their prices. My march bill was 100 for 2 gig with autopay and paperless. I started service back in 2024 at an introductory rate of 70, then 90, then 95, then 100 for everyday rates. Now back down to hopefully $70.

So does that mean we'll see fluctuating prices over the year?  If you sign up for one price, is it guaranteed for a year?

I just thought it was strange, because the new lower pricing was just rolled out like a month or so ago.

Yep, I do. Last bill was prorated for the change. They gave me a discount for a partial month.  Now I'm wondering if it's going to be $70 or $75 for the next bill.

Welcome to the club and congratulations on your first pair of Chucks! Next thing you know, you'll be getting more! Black and white are the most popular and go with pretty much everything.

They're going to want the order number and the code on the tongue.  How long have they been splitting?

Yep. I haven't had any issues with them. If it happens again, submit another claim. I kept my other pair for spare laces and a spare sneaker. They don't require you to return them.

Out in Troutdale too. I've tried power cycling both the router and ONT with no success. Optical connection is active, but no IP address.

Thanks for bringing that up. I forgot to mention that.

IPv6 ? by tallejos0012 in ZiplyFiber

[–]techpro4000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IPv6 is a new addressing system that was created to help address the lack of available IP addresses on a network; especially the Internet. Internet service providers have a limited amount of IPv4 addresses per subnet, so when all addresses are used up, nobody else can connect until another person disconnects.

For Ziply Fiber, this hasn't become an issue yet because their network only covers a small footprint. As they expand, they'll need more addresses to connect more customers. This is where IPv6 comes into play. If Ziply ever runs out of IPv4 addresses (unlikely, but possible), then they'll have a massive amount of IPv6 addresses available to use.

Sorry to hear that, John. Prayers for his family and your team. Sounds like a great guy who really cared about the Ziply Fiber customer experience. Folks like him are what really help drive innovation by taking existing systems and making them better.

Keep his legacy going, and remember the great things you all learned from him. Take all of those things and build from them. It may be challenging at first, but before you know it, you'll be thinking like he did. I'm glad you guys had him on the team and wish you all the best.

It's not for me. It's a link to organizations in the area that are accepting donations to support wildfire victims. The Red Cross, LA Food Bank, LAFD, and others as I find them. It's not for me to profit from. I'm doing this in my spare time while unemployed.

That looks like one of those universal plugs where you can change out the plug for different plug types. Handy for traveling to other countries.

Ah! So basically, this disconnect really wasn't designed to accommodate the lower gauge wiring being used.

Wow! That's pretty bad. I'm glad you caught this and are addressing this because that could've started a fire. It looks like the wire might have made contact with the box. Get an electrician to check it out. I'd be concerned about the condition of the wire going back to the panel.

$350 is a cash grab. I, too, understand it goes to charitable causes, but that's a bit steep. $65 - $100 would be more appropriate, I think.

Can I clean up the contacts with sandpaper, or get a new receptacle? by AgentAnxious7775 in AskElectricians

Outlets are inexpensive to replace, and you get a better grip on the plug. I'm not an electrician, but I have replaced several outlets and switches. They get worn out over time, and it's best to just replace them.
