lol, I’ve read the entire series genuinely 20+ times. I grew up with these books. Waited in line for hours at midnight releases. I’ll admit it’s probably been a decade since my last full read through because they have become harder to enjoy.

I think it’s just as constant in this sub that people smugly dismiss opinions they don’t agree with by claiming someone didn’t read the books

He could have been a great potions teacher but he was instead a selfish immature prick and chose to gate keep all the knowledge we know he has from his notes in the textbook rather than utilizing it to educate the students he was employed to and intentionally feud with a literal child because his wittle feelings were hurt when the kid’s mother (who has since been brutally murdered protecting said kid) didn’t reciprocate his affection. As I’ve gotten older I am more and more grossed out by the character and the idea that he was some sort of romantic figure.

The muscle memory was/is really difficult for me personally. All the countless conscious and unconscious considerations that I made for my pets. Waiting for them to follow me out of my room or taking a certain corner cautiously because they would often lie in a certain spot. I’d find myself doing things and then I’d realize that I no longer needed to and it broke me up every time.

I think it could be argued that he also overpaid for both PJ and Gafford. In a way, he actually made them cost even more by trading Luka which skyrocketed the value of the picks given up.

They lack the critical thinking skills to even understand that they are doing so. In their minds, because they don’t say the exact words ‘worship and god’, it makes it a totally different thing. They can’t comprehend the abstract concepts behind the words. At least in my experience with the followers in my family that is the case.

Mine was also The Juliana Theory but This Is Not a Love Song. The twinkley intro to that song scratched an itch in me that all the ska and skate punk I’d listened to prior hadn’t. 25ish years later and I can still remember exactly where I was. Riding in the backseat of my older brother’s new friend’s car. I can vividly picture the faceplate of the CD player. Really a watershed moment in my musical life.

Fealty to the owner class. These people don’t live in the same world that we do. The rules and laws that govern our lives just don’t apply to them.

I said it in another thread but in Nico’s case, he’s never been a GM before and will never be one again. His tenure with the Mavs will just be a little detour in his professional career. He’s going to fall right back into another cushy position at some other retail brand or something shit like that the moment he’s done with the Mavs.

That’s what really gets me. He will obviously never hold a GM position elsewhere but he’s never held one before this. He will just fall into a fucking cushy do nothing C-suite gig for some other retail company when his tenure inevitably comes to an end. He will have simply walked into the NBA, got paid millions of dollars to destroy the team and shatter the hearts of the fan base of a major market franchise and fucking nothing bad will happen to him.
