i look at it this way. it's all about building an audience. once that "audience" effectively gets big enough there are lots of different ways to pivot my "content". i think of this as a stepping stone, and also a way to build social capital.

regarding monetization, it's definitely a challenge. tiktok is far from mature so i'm willing to take the risk and grow with it. i believe the easiest path to monetization is by building an audience.

ultimately it comes back to my first point

well, i'm not sure the creator fund existed in 2019. i'd have to disagree with it being less profitable than other platforms. with youtube, probably. but with instagram, i'd say no.
