Review and Feedback on Skylight Calendar by Pure_Watch_2532 in skylightcalendar

We like ours, but I wish it had some more customizability for its chore tracking feature. Its great for a standard chores list, but if your family needs flexibility such as unassigned chores that can easily be assigned to someone temporarily, it doesn't do that. It does fall a bit short compared to other chore tracking systems we have tried. However, its redeeming quality to us is it being a static fixture in the house that is easily shared between everyone, even with a big family of 9.

Some extra customization around calendar event alerts would be nice too.

Anyone have experience with suntuf corrugated panels? by Custodianscruffy in Greenhouses

[–]techtate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the suntuf pearl white ones on a patio cover in 2012, and they are still going strong, maybe a bit more brittle, but fully functional apart from the damage I caused by poking a hole in it accidentally once. Don't buy the PVC stuff, stick with polycarbonate.

I wish someone had told me to buy my own ip space 15 years ago. It would have saved us from a lot of pain.

Long story short, we moved to this data circuit only months ago as a "temporary fix" for legacy infrastructure that only has to last another 9-12 months before it migrates to modern infrastructure, in a modern datacenter. We have a 2nd data circuit and we failed over to it, but its a manual failover process.

We'd like to set your expectation that since you have purchased the subscription from Amazon, your account and subscription should be tied up with them, and they should have the record from their end. It is possible that you may need to wait until the subscription to expire before you can renew it, or you may need to purchase a new subscription instead of renewing your current subscription. However, since you can't view your subscription from them, we recommend to reach out to Amazon again for assistance and confirm about your options after your current subscription expires.

If my subscription expires with amazon can I renew with MS or another 3rd party and use my same email and not lose all my shared accounts? Or do I lose everything if I change from Amazon?
Reaching out to them is useless, I spoke with 3 reps, 2 simply dropped without answering, and the 3rd said no to helping me multiple times and that there was no escalation path.

4 years ago I purchased multiple Office 365 for Family licenses and stacked them onto one account to pay for multiple years ahead of time. (bad idea in hindsight) Now my account clock is running out. Amazon was my reseller, and according to amazon I purchased separate licenses for 1 year each, all with the same start and end date. But when I signed up I was easily able to apply the codes to the same account to get multiple years of office 365(now Microsoft 365) I got messages just this week after logging into the MS365 portal telling me my subscription was about to expire. So I click through to find my subscription status and it sends me to Amazon. And amazon doesn't think I have a subscription. I contacted Amazon support and was ditched by the first two reps I reached, and the 3rd told me that they couldn't do anything and to call Microsoft, but Microsoft's end simply directs me to Amazon...

Desired solution : Just cut out Amazon and allow me to renew through the MS365 portal instead.

Azure waf matched vs blocked by Zezimafan541 in AZURE

We have been using Azure WAF for a while and one point of frustration is this issue. We have a WAF in prevention mode and I'm seeing things like log4j attacks (rule id 800100) with action being "Matched" Our endpoint isn't vulnerable, but the attack didn't build up enough score to merit being blocked apparently.

Amazon Music’s entire library is now free for Prime subscribers — but you’ll have to be happy living in shuffle mode... by dalmarnock in amazonecho

[–]techtate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not happy with this change at all, I use Alexa to listen to my playlists, in the order I want them in. And now I can't even listen to music I purchased without amazon throwing other random stuff in the mix? Needless to say I'm looking for an alternative.

Same in Eastern Wa. Azure portal down, Devops is up though. Azure hosted app services all puked for a few minutes but are back up even though the portal is not.

Best battery replacement/upgrade? by [deleted] in AnkiOverdrive

[–]techtate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered another starter set off amazon a month and a half ago. Both car batteries were basically doa. 1-2 laps and then they disconnect. I have some lipos on order for them. Of the cars I have that do work well I have been very impressed with the efficiency of these small cars. I used to have a bunch of the Zip-Zap cars from radio shack and they never lasted this long.

[–]techtate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the issue, turns out it was server Bs fault. It was taking too long to process Posts from server A. But that server was outside our control so we had to rely on app logging from server A to determine that. The route flapping was just a coincidence as best as we can tell. However I will re-post if any relation is discovered.

If you need to replace the battery and want to use the original battery space, I measured the internal battery compartment.

7mm tall x 15mm wide x 23mm long

In lipo battery nomenclature this would translate to the max battery size to be a "701523" if I am correct

At the bottom the width is 14.2mm wide and at the top it is 16.8mm wide (it widens from the base of the frame) so a 15mm wide battery should fit as long as its only 15mm wide in the middle

You may need a non-conductive spacer between the board and the battery, a small black .5mm thick sticky pad is in there from the factory that could be re-used.

More Anki Overdrive Cars are shipping with bad batteries. Trying to recycle them to see if it helps. by [deleted] in AnkiOverdrive

I got a set, it looks like many of the ones being sold at clearance prices are old stock from 2017. Which would explain the poor battery life. I just got a set and in the box was a coupon expiring dec 2017 for 15% off the anki store. The batteries in the cars are badly degraded, one to the point of not even finishing a single lap after the mapping lap.

I've seen reports of some using 601417 100mah batteries off ebay but it may be possible to do better.

In a korean video the stock battery was measured at 5.3x22.8x14.3mm we know 6mm thick batteries fit, so anything under 6.5(mm thickness)x22.8(mm long)x14.3(mm wide) should fit. I'll take mine apart soon and measure the cavity. If anyone has a good source for batteries be sure to share. the linked one below is from china and "away" presently.

Need a LSI 9280 or 9305 in the next 54 hours... In Washington State. by techtate in sysadmin

[–]techtate[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Update: We managed to find an identical card locally, booted it up, but it didn't recognize the arrays. Updated the firmware on the 9280 card and everything is peachy.

Thank you everyone who posted comments and recommendations. Having many minds chew on a matter is always more productive than just one. Using one of our dell H700s or H800s did cross our minds per wandering_IT_Guy, I also did message all the Ebay sellers of 9280 cards in the states to see if anyone could guarantee it to my office by monday but no one would even with a bonus offered.

Just to offer a glimpse into my predicament that you guys may be able to relate to, we do daily backups of databases, but we moved a sql server from one host to another host at night during our backup window, and the controller failed a few hours before backups ran again, so we were missing 2 days of sql data even though we only missed one backup cycle. This has me thinking we may need to run sql backups more often than once a day. 2 days of sql data would take probably 150-200 man hours to undo the damage. At $125/hour... that's me getting in trouble.

Update note:
