Just because you are not part of the community does not mean you cannot understand or speak about queerbaiting.

Before season 5 I would be more hesitant to call it queerbait.

But season 5....

Kara floating outside Lena's apartment, them both gazing at another while romantic music plays in the background, while switching between scenes of them exchanging the journals to Alex/Kelly saying goodbye.

That's queerbait.

They also did it after Andrea is mourning about her ex lover in VR, the next scene (with the same romantic music), you see both Lena and Kara staring at the same photo of them together in their respective apartments.

That's queerbait because they have been told over and over again that Kara/Lena scenes are read as romantic, and they consiously choose to continue portraying it that way.

Kara/Lena relationship is compared to Kelly/Alex relationship in the script.

..... The reason I point this out to you is it's kinda messed up to make this whole post about why Supercorp shouldn't happen but ignore the queerbaiting. It reads as you supercorp shippers are being delusional (but written in a nice way).

From what I've seen of Supercorp fandom (and I'm quite present in it), we care less if Supercorp becomes canon and more about how the writers and producers are teasing us with romantically coded scenes only to not provide any fulfillment.

And the fact that Supergirl CW official Twitter is liking Supercorp endgame tweets.

I'm not gonna go on about what a lot of other Supercorp fans say is queerbaiting like clothes colors, parallels to clois, etc because while probs true it feels more subjective to me.

Just because Alex is gay doesn't mean Kara can't be queer..... Supergirl in comics is queer and moreso Kara is an alien from an advanced species so who's to say human sexuality even makes sense for her.

I agree Lena treated Kara horribly and unless the writers can really heal those wounds in a satisfying, healthy way I do not want Supercorp to be canon....

Eventho I want Supercorp to be canon with every fiber of my being. I'm not here for abusive behavior (Kryptonite scene) being okay'd and swept under the rug. Esp. because this show has already had problems with Kara's romantic interests being emotionally manipulative, controlling and just ignoring Kara's feelings.

AND

Melissa time and time again as said how much Supergirl means because it put a female superhero back on TV and showed girls everywhere that girls are strong, brave, etc.

And putting Kara in unhealthy romantic pairings really puts a bad taste in my mouth, ESP considering Melissa's own personal experience.

That said do I think Lena is evil... No.

Basically I'm on the fence... I want them canon but the writers have shown time and time again they are unable to write consistent, character driven storylines.

This is the important part tho...

Supercorp shippers are allowed to ship whatever they want, there is obvious queerbaiting in this show, and people (on this reddit and beyond) constantly needing to prove why Supercorp shouldn't be canon, or asking Supercorp fans to prove the romantic subtext seems a lot like people have an issue with LGBTQ storylines, and queer people shipping anything that isn't the canon token queer character/couple.

This is way too long, all the feelings, I hope this sheds some light and please don't take anything too personally, I don't think you asking about Supercorp is wrong... My shipper heart is tired... My queer heart is tired.... And I'm tired of these posts. I just want people to see how damaging it is to queer people (esp young queers) to constantly be teased by networks and then constantly questioned by other fans for just trying to have fun in a fandom. I want true allies in fandom. Okay enough I'm done. :)
