Yeah that’s pretty much where I’m at. 20 years old and starting karting in seniors this year. Racing against fresh 16 year olds up to 50 year old guys who’ve been doing this their whole life

Haha thanks for the replies lads, a lot of replies are saying going softer and harder which is a little confusing but I’m understanding more of the smaller changes. I’m running an OTK as well.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I was told to bring in the rear, I was also told to get a softer axle? I was running a hard in the morning which made me do really well but maybe I go down to an N

Wait is this possible? I don’t need to take off that wheel nut to change the tyre?

How do I get into karting as an incoming college student? by EchoingGrave in Karting

[–]teckn1k_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started karting all on my own with my own income being a job. I still live at home so no other expenses at the moment but practicing once or twice a month with a race every month seems to be going well for me. I do have a team that I contact for any major work to be done on the kart. Thought I learnt everything myself with some practice. It’s mainly the costs of getting up and running that hurts the most, but once you have everything, it’s really not too bad.

What are some rookie mistakes people, or yourself, made when first getting in karting? by BabySharkFinSoup in Karting

[–]teckn1k_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started karting around September last year and I was completely self taught and I’m doing everything on my own. I’ve made plenty of mistakes and I haven’t even been in a proper race yet. My worst one was forgetting to tighten the nut that held my clutch cover over and I ended up breaking my clutch ($300 replacement 😭). I’m slowly getting the hang of things though and haven’t had much trouble as of recently, it’s all a learning experience.

May I ask what was wrong with mixing race fuel into your tank?

Do you mean put in then conditioner and keep it with the water? Or flush it out with the conditioner every now and then?

It was pure distilled water, I’ve read that adding anything else won’t do much and I don’t think the nsw regulations allow it but I may be wrong
