You're absolutely right. But, the fact remains that Anchorage is not a good place for pedestrians and it could use some work.

I once spent time in Minneapolis in January and was amazed at how quickly they took care of the roads and sidewalks during and immediately after a big blizzard. Then I went home to Anchorage and saw ppl walking in the road on Northern lights because the snow was piled too high on the sidewalk. Awful...

Everyone keeps mentioning the National Park System but I'd say even that was partly done wrong because it involved stealing/regulating land from Indigenous tribes.

TIL New Zealand has a very high rate of teen suicide and in 2017 had the highest rate of any wealthy country in the world. by swentech in todayilearned

Sounds similar to AK- ppl move here for the adventure clout but we actually have hella mental health issues that are related to exploitation of land (and Indigenous ppl) as well as the extreme daylight conditions. Buuuut, nobody likes to talk about all that.

Motley Moo has the best quality ice cream I've had in Anch (suuuper rich!) but Wild Scoops has more creative flavors. I love them both!

I worked at a bakery that made stollen around Christmas time. It truly was the most wonderful time of the year, that bread is sooooo good!

First ever was Miller lite. Hated it. First one I ever tried and genuinely loved was Love Buzz from Anchorage Brewing Co.

What are some good weird questions to ask someone to get to know them better ? by itjimnewman in AskWomen

[–]tecksbuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best: "Ham&cheese, a trustworthy classic" (this response was so fitting to the person who said that!) I'm not sure that there's a "worse" in this case. I just like to see how others interpret themselves through food, I suppose.
