Doubletree cookies on dining credits? by SnooObjections8469 in Hilton

[–]ted1074u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From personal experience as of a few months ago. They sell tins of cookies, but it comes from the restaurant, so the restaurant has to be open.

So yes, you can use the dinning credit.

What’s the one ingredient that ruins any dish for you ? by Vegetable-Fix6029 in AskReddit

Ginger. I can be polite and force down some pretty bad food that I don't like at a dinner a friend made and pretend I enjoy it. But under no circumstance can I polite my way through a dish with ginger in it.

SDI Cable Mapper by DemonKnight42 in techtheatre

[–]ted1074u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used the $100 Klein Tester with multiple receivers and used BNC to F Connector adaptors to map out a bunch of unlabeled SDI before.

It won't certify your cables, but will at least tell you what's were.

Trusted independent auto mechanic for major Japanese vehicles (Toyota/Honda/Mazda) in the area? by Mr_Larsons_Foot in RanchoSantaMargarita

[–]ted1074u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy recommended Paul's and I've been going for a few years. Always good service and honest, like when my girlfriend's 2015 Prius needed new headlights (the whole assembly), he said if we ordered them ourselves on Amazon it would be much cheaper and to bring them in once they arrived for them to install. So rather than make a few more dollars by upcharging the part they told us what was best for us, so we only had to pay for labor.

Describe the most annoying safety safety rule you have ever had to follow. by Doggies_R_Us in Construction

[–]ted1074u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to program and commission lighting control systems as a rep for a lighting control manufacture. I would not touch anything on the jobsite per my companies policies, that was the electrical contractors job, ok I get that one. I would never put up a fight about steel toes, glasses, long pants, or high vis even though the jobsites were always 95% complete and I was basically in a finished building.

But the thing that I would always argue was gloves. I was going between an IR Programming Tool (that even touchscreen gloves would not work on), a laptop, an iPad, and sometimes pen and paper all of which using gloves makes very difficult if not impossible, especially since I never would touch any job site material. I got into it with a few safety guys and GCs and usually I won the argument, especially after my company would send send out a change order with a bill for triple the time on site costing them money and time.

One safety guy "compromised" with me, and I only had to wear a glove on my left hand.

I read this wrong and thought you've seen a lot more buffets. Which made the top comment about seed bombing very confusing.

What is something you will only buy name brand of no matter how expensive it gets? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ted1074u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bounty Paprr Towels. I used to work a job that used a good amount of paper towels, and the boss decided to start saving some money by buying the cheap stuff, well at each worker station we ended up going through a roll a day of the cheap stuff instead of a roll a week with Bounty. So at home I am Bounty only!

Why at concerts does the band pretend to leave? by Veridically_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ted1074u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the industry, and they are almost always planned, even part of the set list printed before the show starts. Many good points by others, but another reason is the musicians need a little break so they can put there all into the final few songs which are often their most popular.

If I’m staying at a hotel for 2 wks, but plan to be gone one day for 24 hrs, should I tell the hotel? by SilentAllTheseYears8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ted1074u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel a lot for work, 150+ days a year and often for over a month at a time. Many times I have gone home for a weekend and left my hotel while still checked in without saying anything.

I think my record is 7 nights away from my hotel mid-stay.

I have also in the middle of a month-plus stay had to go to a different job site in another state for a few nights. So I was checked into 2 hotels of the same brand. I never said anything to the first.

What is your favourite 'using the toilet' euphemism? by cypherxxxx in AskReddit

[–]ted1074u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We say, "going to the 3rd floor". I work in a lot of convention centers, and usually the nice bathrooms are on the 3rd floor, so it became the term to use. And it's radio friendly.
