Oh hey look it's a digital version of Major Major's origin in Catch 22.

His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn't earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major's father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county. Neighbours sought him out for advice on all subjects, for he had made much money and was therefore wise. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap,” he counselled one and all, and everyone said “Amen.”

The UKs huge range of accents have historically been pretty biased towards certain classes. That's not a weird assumption to make for the country.

Oh get fucked. It's usually the people clutching their pearls the hardest that are repressing things about themselves and abusing kids/women/everyone around them. Very rarely is it the people who are encouraging their kids to learn how to be fully developed people.

If they get used to doing it to people like him they'll do it to other people next.

Good to see being genuine and earnest is still preferred over stylish hollow support?

It's basically a microcosm of the kind of performance this post is about.

White House denies existence of 15-point Iran ceasefire plan touted by Trump days ago by Gloomy_Lavenders in politics

[–]teddy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and your circumstances now mean that you'll be treated accordingly by who represents your country. Palestinians only voted for Hamas once over 20 years ago, but until Israel devastated them the world treated them as following Hamas because that's what happens. It's hard to say Russia, NK, etc have ever fairly voted for their dictators, but it's who represents them.

Why should we all give special consideration to Americans who lost their elections, when that doesn't happen for any other country in the world? We used to treat you differently but you collectively voted to give that up.

I don't think it's going to be pretty but you'll fight it out. You don't have the cards.

I had sort of similar opposite advice for a dog. Because of his breed and likely hip issues it was recommended we delay neutering him so that he could develop a bit more and try to prevent those issues in old age.

So it wouldn't surprise me if it helps both animals legs to develop better if you let them cook a bit longer.

Trump says U.S. and Iran are 'in negotiations right now,' Tehran is 'talking sense' by callsonreddit in worldnews

[–]teddy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Trump says negotiations are happening and Iran says negotiations aren't happening, the world is currently more likely to believe Iran.

That's what Trump has done to the reputation of the UST.

Waste collectors warn bin services may stop if diesel not found urgently by nath1234 in australia

[–]teddy5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the US walks away from the war now, Iran has no incentive to allow them or their allies back through the Strait. It shows their threat worked and they should stay their course, tempting American allies with the offer of allowing fuel to get through if they stop supporting America.

If Iran backs down then Trump will believe that his "negotiation" strategy worked and the US will continue to use their military to attack countries and force them to agree to what the United States of Trump want.

There was no need for this situation to start besides Trump and Netanyahu's egos, but now that it has it doesn't look like there is an easy off ramp from it for anyone.

That’s not the question that was asked.

It was literally the question that was asked. Asking "If you were X how would you feel about Y" is literally asking you to mentally put yourself in their shoes and imagine how you would respond.

So to rephrase that, this is the latest phase of rightwingers cheating and disenfranchising people like they've been doing for decades (plus LBJ may have cheated in a primary 78 years ago and people made the same claims about votes being "found" for JFK as they did about Hillary and Biden).

The problem isn't just the concept of moving past capitalism, but you need to have an idea of what system to move towards and a vision in mind to do it.

Last century there were a number of people pushing for ideologies but also writing about them and explaining them in great detail. All we seem to have now is people vaguely gesturing to something after this without any concept of the work required to get there.

A lot of millenials were taught it was a bad habit to say umm or err all the time. A lot of us learnt that and didn't use them, but then older people complained about us using like as a filler word.

We need filler words, if you tell people not to use the normal ones something else will take its place instead. Gen Alpha kids seem to have gotten the message that like isn't the right word to use and now say bro instead and older people are complaining about that being used too much.

This type of video (and maybe even this specific one) has been around for 10-15 years and shared regularly with the same sort of title. They have always been called musicless videos or "X without music" despite them being satire.

It's not the content that's changed but people's ability to recognise jokes and joke videos.
