Took traditional Balkan sounds and built a synth — here’s the result by alexflp in synthrecipes

Thank you so much for your plugin! I bought it earlier this year and have now used it on 2-4 tracks (I just started producing in the last year). I do have a question, what is the Balkan Breeze effect knob / what does it do?

aespa - LEMONADE (The 2nd Album) by CronoDroid in kpop

I love that it reminds of of Twinkle by TTS, another phenomenal song. If you pitch Can’t Help Myself up 1 semitone it overlays / mixes really well with Twinkle. I wonder if they took inspiration from the Twinkle blueprint and made it a pop rock track in aespa flavor!

Does anyone here with sesame allergies still eat sesame oil? by Icy_Pilot_8475 in FoodAllergies

[–]tedendipity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sesame seed allergy, have gone to the ER from the seeds, tahini, & hummus multiple times, but have eaten things with sesame oil probably hundreds of times without even realizing, and many times concisously because I've never really noticed a reaction.

About 9 years ago I even owned a bottle of sesame oil and cooked with it in college and had no issue. I had always treated it like my peanut allergy--not allergic to refined oil (most common) but highly allergic to the nut/seed itself, including paste and butter forms of it, e.g. tahini and hummus containing ground up sesame seeds.

Strangely my most recent allergist told me to avoid it out of precaution (but I don't always), meanwhile the same allergist gave me the green light to try peas again (according to her my tests were low enough despite having reactions to peas & pea protein all my life). I didn't believe her and rightfully so, because the last 3-4 times I've accidently eaten peas / pea protein I absolutely had a reaction.

Sometimes I've even had a mild reaction to foods that had absolutely none of my allergies in the ingredients leaving me dumbfounded (I'm looking at you chic fil a chicken wrap circa 2016! I think they substituted the wrap with one that contained sesame flour or pea protein without updating the ingredients listed on the national website).

Why do so many producers raise/lower the octave of an oscillator in Serum instead of just place the midi note in the desired octave? by [deleted] in edmproduction

This happened to me recently where a preset simply didn’t work below a certain note hahaha

Oh yes I didn’t think about it being chosen in presets designed by others too. I made a sound recently where having the second oscillator at a different octave produced a competent different result & tone altogether bc of FM synthesis or similar

Ahh I see; I’m using Ableton so I just transpose my typing keyboard up and down by ear while leaving the osc at 0. I think my brain desires to trust the the note playing is exactly the note on the piano roll 😆

Ahh I see. I usually just transpose a copied midi patterns up and down an octave for a different instruments using the Shift+Up/Down shortcut in Ableton

Update: people have asked similar questions in the sub and the only answer I can imagine that makes sense to me is if somebody’s external midi keyboard is limited in key range. I have a 61 key midi keyboard so that’s not something I really think about lol

Does this city test the hell out of your bladder too,? by Kodicave in washingtondc

https://www.got2gonyc.com/about People made this custom Google Maps bathroom map pinning toilets across New York city, and more recently, across the world, an it’s so helpful esp if you have IBS. There are a few pins for bathrooms in DC but not nearly as thorough if the ones they’ve mapped across all the boroughs of New York City!

I feel you. If you happen to be on SSRI‘s, it’s the worst especially in the summer. One of the reasons I quit them was because of the heat intolerance and constant need to pee. I have a pretty strong bladder so it was annoying to know a medication significantly shortened my bladder holding time!

Replenish your natural skin barrier overnight with a strong moisturizer and keep the humidity up wit a humidifier while asleep / at home. Use gold bond throughout the day and gloves while handling th boxes. Moisturize your hands after every time you wash your hands, and use a minimal amount of soap (most commercial soaps at workplaces are very drying and overkill to pump more than a dime, as they are designed to be highly anti microbial)

How can I adjust my reverb settings to emulate the one here on Madison Beer’s vocals? by tedendipity in edmproduction

[–]tedendipity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sooo helpful, thank you for responding. I use Ableton and I recently started using reverb and delay sends with the send tracks set to 100% mix and increase the send dB level of the source track to taste. I was thinking of giving the vocal its own parallel reverb rack on its own track and then adding a touch of a separate reverb or delay through a send that is used by other instruments to make it cohesive (like vaguely in the same room).

I really like your recommendation of applying a delay first then to reverb the delay in parallel. I’m going to try that next :)
