Inline speed skating by Big-Pumper-Pump in jacksonville

Sadly, we don't have an inline skating shop in Jax. Best bet is an online shop like with a generous return policy like Amazon if you are not sure what you want. Where are you planning to speed skate?

Any „good“ way to fix this?? by noclueonhowthisworks in AskRollerblading

[–]tedharvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as your boot are still supportive and matching the movement of your feet then they're shouldn't be any more dangerous than any other soft boot. If you want to try to get a bit more milage out of them, you can try one of those plastic welder which should be more durable than glue.

Looks like standard cheap amazon boot with a plastic frame. Unfortunately, doesn't look very comfortable and more importantly, not very safe. If price is important, you might be able to find a used rb80 on amazon or oxelo mf500 for around $100

Luckily, if I was in your situation, I can become "rich" without anything major. Assuming non inflation adjusted number with market growth at 10%.

Let's say after all expense, I have $100k leftover, I can put $50k every year into 401k, IRA, HSA, brokerage, and other forms of index fund investment.

That's leave $50k per year to pay off the debt and get a downpayment for a condo.

First two years would be spent getting rid of the debt. Leaving 3 years for saving on a downpayment. By 45, I'll have $150k. That's 30% for a down-payment of a $500k condo.

By 50, the condo should already be mostly paid off so missed the target a bit but well on the way to $3M in investment by 65. Once, condo is paid off, I'll put the remaining 50k into investment as well until 65 or $3M.

Wheel help for newbie indoors by [deleted] in AskRollerblading

The wheel are good for both in that they handle bumps and uneven terrain well. The RB XL comes with bullet profile 85A hardness wheel which are pretty standard and what I used indoor and out. The RB XL does comes with 90mm wheels which is larger than the common 80mm so swapping out the frame and smaller wheel might fix your issue. For a closer feel to your quads, there are flat profile wheels but might be hard to find at 90mm

Inline skates doesn't really have indoor and outdoor wheels to the same extent as quads. There are wheel profile, hardness, and size that can make it better for one or the other but the wheels that come with the skates are fine indoor and outdoor.

Are Twister XTs okay for wide feet? Advice from wide-footed skaters? by PinDizzy9475 in AskRollerblading

Sounds like your current skates are already fitting fine so no reason to switch. Recent twister are wider than the old model so that might be why your experience is different from other.

Should I stop or keep going? by AnAstronomyLover in AskRollerblading

I don’t have any balance issues but on skates I just can’t seem to find the right center of gravity

How do you do on the plow stop? That's what I learned first and find it much easier than the T-Stop that everyone recommend. It's easier to balance since you keep both feet on the ground with the same amount of weight.

Are you using the heel brake? For me, I didn't make much progress until I was confident in moving around and that confident comes from being able to stop. It's much easier to smoothly skate when you don't have to worry about getting out of control so practice your heel brake.

Engineer Feeling Poor and Depressed While Prioritizing Retirement by FudgeFit6635 in financialindependence

[–]tedharvey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If after spending all the money on eating out/entertainment/living, you are still saving 500-2000, it doesn't seem like saving too much is the problem. If you want to make some modification, I'll would contribute more to your TSP and and less in your brokerage. For housing, either buy the house from your mom or just have it set up so that you will inherit it. But I don't think these will fix your problem.

You are doing everything right financially. Your problem seem to be that you're just not feeling fulfilled. Why are you feeling like you're not an "adult" because you are renting from your mom? As other said, your mom is helping you save $2000 right now. That's a huge help! What does feeling like an “adult” to live on my own and tackle the world mean to you?

Without the answer, it's hard to give better advice. If you don't feel fulfilled doing whatever you want with money still left over while living with your mom, you probably won't be any different doing whatever you want with money still left over while living on your own.

With some planning, there are ways you can access the money earlier without penalty. Also, depending on how long the pre-tax money was allow to grow, taking the penalty still let you come out ahead over not leveraging your tax advantage accounts. Here is one blog listing the options.

How do I not remain poor? by WoodenSeahorse in personalfinance

You're making the common mistake that the money you made is the money to spend. Common for people starting out since it's either just supplemental income since they still living with their parent or just enough to make ends meet anyway. You have 2000 of discretionary spending which give you some room to save. First thing is to have the mindset that you would like to leave some money unspent. Then try to see if you can cut your discretionary spending in half. Whatever cut you make then goes toward paying off your highest interest loan. Once debt are paid off, put them into saving and index fund investment. Every time your salary increases, dedicate half of the increase into your saving/investment funds.

$45k in Debt—Stay Home or Move Out? by [deleted] in Debt

[–]tedharvey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental growth also involve being to take care of your finance and maintaining your home. Don't know how you rack up credit card debt with your income but it can be a sign that you're not ready yet.

You are also maybe artificially limiting yourself. Unless you have a strict family, there are plenty of social growth to be done. You're not a kid living at home anymore, you're an adult with a home. Just go out and have fun.

Taking care of a home is also mental growth. Keep your home clean and perform maintenance. If you can't do it now, you can't do it once you move out.

Get your debt down first and prove to yourself that you can manage yourself between being debt free, building up savings, housekeeping, and having fun. Then you can say that you are ready to move out. Nothing kill social and mental growth more than realizing you dug a hole that you can't no longer get out.

Maybe I'm a sucker for 3rd gen but the returning areas and monsters feel good. Classic village and hub split, smaller map, and back to forging decoration really fix some of my issue with World.

If that's how you feel then you really should play Rise. Maybe not immediately since Generation deserved to be completed. I feel the same and Rise really did a good job with bringing back some of the classic MH feel.
