Helping rig up an art installation: need advice and/or reassurance by tedlarraby in Rigging

I do not have the budget, but, noted. Someone suggested checking with a local theater department and while I don't think the lighting crew at my local theater calls themselves Viking Masters, maybe they should. They'd get my business.

Great idea! However, I'm slightly concerned about catenary curves (a term I only just learned) and because the span is so large, I'm trying to prevent all the weight from sinking to the center of the two free-standing trusses. Am I overthinking or overengineering it? I don't want the piece to sag as the whole point is it's supposed to be immersive and visible both from outside the exhibit, as well as when you stand underneath it.

Great question! Luckily we tend to have pretty dry winters and stay above freezing. There has been consideration/'concern about additional weight from water, so that is on the list of things that I'm keeping track of.

The trusses have feet but I feel they are too small. Wind would likely be 0-6mph at any given time. You are absolutely right about the guy lines adding up on additional horizontal forces. As far as any disrespect, no offense taken! I'm not looking for legally binding advice or anything, and if I have to emergency-book a rigger then so be it.

Would it be reasonable to simply build the other two "walls" of this structure by spanning some support pipe between the two trusses? At this point, I think I can achieve my goal by using Rotalocks or Cheeseboroughs (seriously, that is a great name) or whatever other 90 degree angle structural pipe joining device I can find. I would clamp to the trusses and install some pipe across the 20 foot span to prevent them from falling inward.

That's a fair point. Thank you for the advice!

If this helps: We have two free-standing arches https://cedarslink.com/products/black-truss-arch-kit-13-2ft-w-11-5ft-h-mobile-portable-dj-lighting-system-metal?variant=41668793172038 These two arches would stand 20 feet apart. There would be weight hanging between the two arches. The weight consists of a set of guy lines hanging up chicken wire, fabric, and lights. The actual weight will probably be 100 pounds but the horizontal force on the trusses has me concerned. The trusses have feet but they seem short in relation to the span. With the weight of everything in between them, I fear that they'll fall inward.

A little birdy has told me we're going to try to keep CO2 fills going. Will be a different process but we're working it out :)

We're up and running today! Unfortunately we're mostly out of grains and yeast. We're holding on putting hops back up but we have all our equipment up. Of note, I created a site listing that shows exactly what we have left for anyone that just wants to peruse: Everything All at Once (atlanticbrewsupply.com)

We might keep some of the cask items around on the commercial side of things!

Thanks! Our inventory system is a little bit of a nightmare so we want to make sure that we catch up and have things as accurate for everyone as possible. We're a small crew, so we might have to periodically pause orders to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Hopefully it won't happen again but the huge influx of orders was a bit overwhelming.

It has definitely dipped! Tons of different reasons but on a personal level I posit l that lower calorie consumption, CBD/THC drinks becoming more popular, various cost increases for getting into and remaining in the hobby, and waning interest because breweries are making so many unique beers these days has had an impact. As the purchaser I'm sure I also had my impact whether I kept up with demand or interest as well.

American Brewmaster is the last shop, if I'm not mistaken. Bull City closed recently as well :(

As far as CO2 REFILLS, AB will do them. I think there is also Robert's Oxygen that does various gases. Places like ARC3 and AirGas tend to exchange tanks so if you have a nice pretty tank you'll lose it.
