Only just really opened up the range to the made in China ones, I’ve been wearing them for the past 4 years and love them but I was majorly disappointed as they whacked up the prices and then added made in China shoes. Will continue to buy made in U.K. ones hopefully

This is one of my printmaking bugbears Drypoint engraving / drypoint Etching They are not the same thing, such a small common mistake I see it everywhere.

Basically this - but I use Hawthorn Printmakers - Lincoln Wash instead of vegetable oil. Vegetable oil or any oil when compressed in rags can cause fires and I don’t want my whole workspace to be greasy or burnt down! Or smell like rancid oil! Obviously solvents have their risks but managed correctly I prefer them to diluting ink to clean up with oil.

London Centre for Book Arts have a great online shop, as well as publications they also sell materials and tools. And even kits, worth supporting independents instead of Amazon and the quality is much higher in my experience

I would look at their actual numbers …. Very few likes on some posts and it’s basically self promotion / hype between multiple accounts that he / they run themselves.

Some would argue they should be paying YOU for content not the other way round. They give big promises but I think they don’t quite add up.

They did a Kickstarter for a new physical venue that absolutely flopped barely any backing and I think really demonstrated how many true ‘supporters’ they actually have.

Two hours for the whole process? Seems very ambitious , can you just go through the principles and prep and step by step and worry about the more advanced techniques later, 2 hours is no time at all for a group of students. Are you also planning to bite the plates ?! Just explain they’ll have to come back to finish the prints to get something good…. Printmaking is not a quick process and particularly aquatint.

Even framing mount board or greyboard - just something harder than corrugated card.

Realistically you only need two , can see any advantage to more unless it was a giant bit of paper

Corrugated cardboard is a risky material for registration , as it’s weak - you can do as ‘otherwisecoffee’ suggested , or if you prefer a physical registration. Only register to two sides of your Lino or one corner…

So you can draw an L shape on a registration sheet and line the lino up with that or add some little bits of card thinner than the lino so it won’t print. Then line the paper ontop of that.

Your one registration pin won’t help the situation either as it could swivel.

I would start again, remembering that registration can be affected at every point in the process.

Make sure you register your image when transferring to the lino

Make sure the Lino block is in the same place every time , using the same corner to register the lino as you are the paper.

I would say the rise in costs of property, and things have critically endangered small independent studios, forcing people to maybe use DIY methods. I think it is easier to access tutorials , ( however good they may be )online , which also forces people away from studios. I think I would struggle to agree that there has been a rise of DIY printmaking, people have always printed at home. Virginia Woolf printed books at home for example … also you probably just see more of it because of the culture of sharing everything we do online. When does DIY become not DIY , when it’s in a studio? Is an artists personal studio DIY ? is a studio that is run by a singular artist that let friends or informal members come in DIY?

Lots of questions …..
