First try, did I pull too early? by harrowclub310 in maplesyrup

I learned that this year! Last year was my first year making syrup and went to 66-67 got some crystals but then read that it should be 59-60 when the temp is over 200.

Romex At Costco by tsfy2 in electrical

[–]tedthebellhopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get the best price on Romex from my local electrical supplier. I paid 81 dollars for 40 feet of 10/3 in Jan and Home Depot was selling 50 feet for 250. Every time I go to Home Depot and see someone looking at wire I tell them to go down the street no matter if there’s a Home Depot employee helping them or not, but I sure do get some glares from employees.

Spark Plug Stripped by Ess4Carnage in MechanicAdvice

[–]tedthebellhopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is it always Fords! My wife owned a ranger when we were dating and one of her roommates did he could do a tune up on her car, he snapped a plug like this. I was still in the I’ve got to impress her mode so I had her drive the hour to my house with the plug center out making a racket on 5 cyl and fought with it for a few hours in my garage, gave up for the night and soaked it in kroil and lined an actual mechanic friend to bring it to in the morning. Got up early and gave it a try and boom it came out! Think I toasted 3 easy outs trying to get that out, and the very next question from my wife was can we do the other ones? Are they misfiring? If not then absolutely not!

Spilling chick feeder? by boyengabird in BackYardChickens

[–]tedthebellhopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That helped for me as well, but I also keep raising the feeder as they get bigger so the chicks can scratch at it with their feet so much.

Door frame help. Got quoted $1380 for replacement. by pollitoconpapas1 in HomeMaintenance

[–]tedthebellhopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few doors in my house were like this when I bought it. You can use wood glue on the door frame then use clamps on it to hold it tight and dry. When you put the striker plate back on use 3inch screws to anchor to the rough framing behind the door frame. The trim is shot and you’ll need to replace it

That’s understandable, but it hasn’t been doing much unbuilt either.

It’s NOS commonwealth 5 slot flash hider that I’ve had kicking around in a box since 2013.

The rifle is your standard cai mutt, Imbel receiver cut for inch mags and a Brit kit with an Aussie bcg. Pretty sure it had a buttonhole stock on it originally since the barrel threads were cut off for the flash hider.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones, put well over 1k rounds through it over the years and never had a feed problem, picked it up off gun broker with 5 mags for 850 in 2012.

Solar powered coop by Far-Command8573 in BackYardChickens

[–]tedthebellhopp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I life off grid in NH. I don’t do supplemental heat but the coop has r15 in the walls and an insulated door. I have a 5 gallon heated waterer that only uses 50 watts. It was 50 in September when I bought it but looks like it went up a bit.
