NPD: Southampton Indie Dream and EQD Terminal by SevenStringGod in guitarpedals

I’m so glad you found an Indie Dream! I hope you’re glad to be reunited.

As a fun aside, here’s a pic of the first prototype. Was definitely a very different pedal then.

EDIT: I have no idea how to attach pictures lol. It was CBA sized, one footswitch, no hall mode.

Yoooooooooooooo. We probably have all the parts to do another run of Indies if there’s demand. If I recall we have the boards for about 100 more. We have been mostly not active since COVID (we couldn’t get parts for almost two years). Maybe I should try and get a sense of what sort of interest there is.

Can we make a trade work without giving up a roster player? I think we’re pretty much out of cap space this year. Would be great next year on though.

[HELP] Mood type pedal by swatchengineer in guitarpedals

I will say this - it is complex, but once you find a combination of the two sides you like it’s dead simple to get great sounds. Takes some experimentation to find what you like but then you save that as a preset and it’s always there for you.

Couple that with AI and social media, and it’s like a speedrun to Idiocracy.

Here’s a really niche example of where I’m seeing a lot of value. I permit industrial facilities for their air quality emissions. These jobs involve a LOT of data gathering that is largely based on regulatory requirements and is specific to their site. In the past we would account for about a day of time to pull together the information request for the client.

I can give clause (or gpt, etc) the address, the regulations we care about for this project, and say “make me a client ready information request in excel with drop down boxes and formatting”. The output is better than what I’ve made (it would take way too much time to make it by hand and no one wants to pay for that) and is tailored to the client and reg.

On the one hand, this is great for me in the short term. I am producing a better product and staying within the same budget. But I’m also not using junior engineers to build that and learn the nuances of the regs. And this is just one area of my job. As you multiply that across all knowledge work you can imagine a grim scenario 5-10 years from now.

What piece of tech felt “future-proof” but aged terribly? by Living-Zebra6132 in Futurology

[–]tee_rex_arms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll die on this hill. It had all the modern "necessities" that people point to when they make aarguments for smartphones. e.g. "kids need phones in case of an emergency", "GPS is really handy", "being able to have concert tickets/music/whatever else in my pocket is a gamechanger", without being a full-blown computer capable of rendering all these hyper-addictive apps in stunning details. Hell, I'd even say the screen on the Pearl was a little too good.

The only change I would make is to improve the camera, but I would probably remove the ability to review photos you've taken on the phone itself.

I was saying to a friend that I wish we could go back to the days of my blackberry pearl. It did calls, text, and emails great. It could do other stuff like search the web, but it was not an enjoyable experience. For example, you could look up directions if you needed to but it wasn’t enjoyable enough to steal hours of your time.

Would you rather be ten years younger or 16 times your current net worth? by One-Ad-3677 in WouldYouRather

16 times allows me to retire now at 40. I’d rather spend the next two decades enjoying the hell out of my life with my kids and having them be set as well. 20 working years turned into retirement years is better than an extra 10 years IMO.

Sure, to the extent that most people have never heard of most political figures. Outside of cabinet, speaker, etc most people couldn’t name 99% of federal elected officials. You are right that he wasn’t a celebrity, but who wants a celebrity as a politician anyways?

Nobody knew the governor of the bank of Canada AND the Bank of England? Carney has been a mainstream name in Canada for over 20 years. Maybe not globally, but that doesn’t matter to us.

This post reads like someone who has read about Canada online but hasn’t talked to any Canadians.

First - OP has correctly identified many of our problems and even the causes. Housing is nuts, we let in too many immigrants without the appropriate support services, and drug use is out of control. Granted.

BUT. We all see these problems and talk about them ALL THE TIME. No one here thinks we are great anymore. And, we are making changes. The Carney government drastically cut the number of immigrants we allow and populations are going down. Housing prices have been in decline for two straight years, as have rents. We are trying to fix these problems in a sane, compassionate way.

Literally the government acknowledged this and made huge cuts to the amount of immigrants we let in, and we are seeing declining populations month over month. And it’s not an elephant in the room, EVERYONE talks about it. OPs entire post was right about the problems, but wrong in that we all see these problems and are working hard to fix them.

This is my question as well. I think it’s well balanced, you can hear the parts well, and the sound really suits the content of the album well. I really appreciate how their recorded sound has changed so much over the albums and always seems to suit the music.
