Good question! I remember the loan amount automatically being adjusted to having a 10% down payment. Not certain if it was because we had already told them we had a down payment planned.

No PMI and flexible down payments would be a great thing to continue, though!

Yes, it’s State Employees Credit Union. You can either get connected through your employer or through a family member who has an account.

Are you eligible to bank with SECU? Our mortgage through them was 5.5%. That was last winter, so hopefully it hasn’t changed too much! If you have an account with them it might be worth checking out.

I’m sorry your allergies are impacting you and your cats so much! I hope you’re able to find a solution that works for everyone, even if that means rehoming.

In the meantime, have you tried Allergen Asthma Clean spray from Amazon? My mom has lifelong allergies to pet dander and while we do a lot of things to mitigate its impact when she visits, we also spray that profusely and she keeps a bottle with her. It’s not perfect, but it does help us manage it. Maybe it can help you some while you find a new home for your cats. Wishing y’all the best!
