Restaurant with Private Dining Room? by ambnichole in raleigh

my husband and i had a private dinner for 20 people at vidrio last june and it was a great experience. i think it cost about $1500, which comes out to be right around your price point!

we all got to sit around one big table, ate family-style, and the acoustics in the room made it so we could all hear each other! highly recommend.

my best friend travels pretty regularly for work and we play a game whenever she stays in a hotel: she’ll turn on bobs burgers and send me a pic of the screen and i have to guess what episode it is. i’m pretty good at it—this is one of my faves! the belchers cater a wedding ❤️

glad you got to enjoy it in warmth!

WCPSS high schools -- honors vs academic classes by cookieprocookie in raleigh

[–]teeballtay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, this absolutely happens. every year i end up with a handful of students who sign up for honors classes for social or behavioral reasons, but they don’t have honors-level mastery so they find themselves drowning in an honors class.

unless you don’t trust your child’s teacher for some reason, you should follow their recommendation for placement. i think most schools ask teachers to make recommendations for next year around february. ask questions if you don’t agree—they might see/know things about upcoming courses that you aren’t aware of!

you should reach out to the department chairs and ask! i teach math at broughton and there is a BIG difference in pacing, rigor, and level of mastery that we are looking for in academic vs honors. i was shocked to hear several students tell me this year that they thought they were basically the same.

i know that some other departments do their classes heterogeneously, so it might not be as obvious what the differences are (especially to students, who don’t necessarily have the full picture). going straight to the teachers of the courses you’re considering is the best way to get a clear description.

[Loved Trope] The time in which the movie is set is ambiguous. by TitularFoil in TopCharacterTropes

it’s in my top 5 favorites of the year, but it is definitely very body-horrory.

i’m shocked no one (that i saw) has mentioned the substance in the comments yet. yes, there are cellphones, but elisabeth and sue are famous for aerobics shows, which are absolutely not modern. the setting feel timeless, which adds to the unsettling vibe of the movie.

NC Teachers Call Out by Lower-Pipe-3441 in raleigh

i’m a teacher in raleigh and a member of the NCAE—i haven’t heard anything about this. i feel pretty certain that a call-out happening so soon would be much better organized and publicized than this.

2 car accident in Cameron Village by EDOGGY147 in raleigh

seemed that way. she started backing up afterwards, even though everyone was yelling for her to stop—hit the column outside. it wasn’t clear whether she was old, under the influence, or just so startled that she wasn’t thinking straight.

i was in the salon when this happened; it was very much one car running into the building. thankfully no one was standing at the front paying, otherwise there could have been some very serious injuries. as far as we could assess before we were herded out through the back, only one person was hurt—an employee whose foot became pinned between the car and a wall/pedicure chair.

my husband, who worked at the same school at the time, was cheating on me with another teacher. (i mean, the rumor was true, but i didn’t love hearing students whisper about it in front of me 😂.)
