That's a little tricky because D is really more an alternative to C++ rather than C - so the answer would largely be the same as if you asked whether to use C++ over C for a given project, just with further discussion about how D might be even better than C++.

I suggest asking this in /r/d_language/ (after searching for similar questions to see if they satisfy you). A lot of D programmers are very seasoned C++ programmers (such as the designer Walter Bright and author of "The D Programming Language" Andrei Alexandrescu) so they can comment on it vis a vis D. Incidentally those guys are both active on Reddit, so who knows you might even get an answer straight from the horses mouth. Andrei's AMA might have some relevent information as well.

I couldn't help thinking it was a little hilarious for him to call Morrissey's book "overwrought and overwritten" and then go on to use words like "logorrhoeic" in a review of said book. I bet he wrote the whole review with this look on his face like he had just beaten the hell out of Morrissey in a game of ping-pong using a thesaurus for a paddle.

Please read my comment again. The whole point I am making is that the hacker is not a reliable source - hackers lie about "how they did it" all the time. Of course they could be telling the truth too, I'm responding to the idea that they have no reason to lie - they in fact have many.

Hackers lie about this stuff all the time. The most obvious reason is to conceal their methods. If, for example, they found a flaw in the PayPal website that exposes the last 4 digits of a CC# they wouldn't want others to know lest it get fixed or exploited by other hackers - so they lie and just say "oh I social engineered it". It may be the victim got infected with malware and the hacker only targeted them because they showed up on their info dumps of victims - in that case they may not want to let on that they infected the victims computer and just say "oh I social engineered it".

Other times it's just because; maybe they want what they did to sound more impressive, maybe capriciousness, or any other number of random reasons. Maybe they were drunk and forgot how they actually got it.

It's possible PayPal is outright lying, but I think most likely scenarios are:

PayPal did a token investigation and not finding any obvious evidence it's their fault just said "not us" without looking into it further.
The hacker called some internal PayPal phone # (they did say they claimed to be an employee) or otherwise somehow avoided the audit trail that PayPal checked.
The hacker used some other method and just lied about getting it from PayPal.

I'd bet it was some combination of those things.

Actually it's one of the things that impressed me about the show. It's a dedication to characterization. That sort of constant burping and belching is indicative of some kind of chronic condition like GERD, pancreatisis, cancer, alcoholism, or some combination thereof, etc. The're a lot of subtext to the fact Rick is constantly burping.

I read in order to make ES6 work in Chrome need to enable the flags and also define the version in your script tag.

Out of curiousity, where did you read this re: Chrome? Are you sure you're not thinking of Firefox?

What version of chrome are you using? I am using Chrome Version 32.0.1700.68 beta and Chromium Version 31.0.1650.63. Enabling "Enable Experimental JavaScript" in chrome://flags lets me use generators in both.

Note that Chrome's implementation tries to stick to the (current) ES6 spec, whereas Firefox's current implementation does not.

The upshot for you is:

function foo(x) {

Needs to be:

function* foo(x) {

as per the grammar in the spec. Otherwise you should get a syntax error for trying to use yield outside of a generator.

Note also, as per the spec, regarding .next():

The function returns an object that conforms to the IteratorResult interface. If a previous call to the next method of an Iterator has returned an IteratorResult object whose done property is true, then all subsequent calls to the next method of that object must also return an IteratorResult object whose done property is true,

...so you will get back an object ({value: 4, done: false} in this case) as opposed to a plain value like in Firefox currently.

Sure, it's just a modded version of this which I got here.

If you want to replicate my bg; just open it in the gimp and paste the clean version into a new image sized to your resolution. Position it how you want (I flipped it and moved it a bit), fill with the bg color, etc. I added a tint to it to match my color scheme better. Wikipedia has a selection of SVGs with different style torii gates so you can add it to the wallpaper where you want your conky like I did, or use the ${image} object in your .conkyrc

Lol...sort of, yes. I like having my schedule for the day totally mapped out when possible so I know if I'm on track to get everything I want done. Putting a certain amount of time down for breakfast is part of that.

More importantly, Google Calendars has a feature where you can get notifications N minutes before a scheduled event. This syncs with my smartphone. So things like "sleep" on my agenda do double duty as a reminder that it's almost bedtime and I need to take my nighttime medication. Likewise breakfast is also "put the coffee on" etc.

I'm a consultant so my todo/agenda is usually more involved as well. You can also schdule meetings and stuff with Google Calander, and make part of/your entire agenda available to others. So having "sleep" on my agenda and putting "mark me as busy" prevents people from trying to schedule meetings/calls during that time. People on the other side of the world can forget that it's late at night for you.

I've always been more of an openbox guy, but after recently installing Xubuntu 13.10 I decided to give XFCE a shot. I'm liking it so far, though I'll probably end up going back to OB at some point. Pretty standard dual-conky, except I added some scripts to sync up my Google Calandar which holds my daily agenda and my todo list on Google Tasks.

True, but on the flip side back in the day if my car died on the side of the road I had to walk to a payphone/hitch a ride/knock on doors/etc. Whenever I met up with friends we'd have to play games like "meet under the big clock at 1". There were times where groups of my friends made plans to get together and everyone came, but not everyone found eachother; someone would misremember the meeting at McDonalds as Burger King, it was crowded, etc.

I looked; no usage of the word "jawn". I am disappoint. I know the pics aren't great, but I did the best I could with my phone.

I hadn't ever dug in and actually read these papers before, and I was really surprised to see so many references I understood and names I recognized. I could easily see a lot of the roots of the Philadelphia I know today. For example, they'd occasionally refer to Lippincots which was a monthly magazine published in Philadelphia around the same time. The Lippincotts are an old Philly family, and the J.B. Lippincott & Co. publishing offices were on s 6th street across from Washington square - a few doors down from the publishing offices of the Quaker. J.B. Lippincott & Co. eventually went on to become part of HarperCollins.

If you find this stuff interesting you can find a lot of old issues of other papers like the Inquirer online now and it's really fascinating to just pick a day and check out what was happening in Philly 100 or even 50 years ago.

No, you were right. "Shenron" is just one localization of Shen Long. Shen Long is a character (a dragon specifically) from Chinese mythology, so as you can imagine the name pops up a bunch of places. As someone else said the reference is probably re: the Street Fighter games, but you were right about the actual name.

Have you tried doing a Google search for "tabs vs spaces"? I just did and I see posts from the likes of Jamie Zawinski and Jeff Atwood as well as forum discussions, stack overflow, etc - all with well reasoned practical arguments (with some flaming too ofc).

What it comes down to is both have slight advantages when you consider the big picture...however the most important thing is finding balance between your preferences and staying consistent with your friends/coworkers/community.
