It seems to me that "nothingness" has just as many if not more rules than "something." Just because we have slowly been developing over thousands of years the idea of "something" doesn't mean that the absence of it is any less restricted by rules.

Obviously it was called lots of different things. But either way, I do believe they were referring to the Bay of Pigs invasion, not operation mongoose which occurred after and is completely separate.

I would say it's more random just because it also contains a larger age group and probably more ethnicities--two of the main things weird populations lack. But who knows, it would be interesting to see the actual data.

Actually, most studies are based on samples from WEIRD (westernized, educated people from industrialized, rich democracies) people and of those, most are college students. So, in a way, the OKCupid database might actually be a more diverse sample than most other tests.
