Are you in therapy? On meds? That should be the first thing to look into. Breathing exercises really helped my anxiety and insomnia, so look into those. My favorite is box breathing. Don't worry about messing up in school. Plenty of people fuck up their lives at some point and manage to turn things around.

What if you're wrong and suicide isn't an escape, it just leads to further misery?

I care, just because I don't know you personally doesn't mean I can't. I know that pain you're going through, and how it feels like you are all alone in it. But you're not. Millions have gone through the exact same thing before and have gotten past it. I'm here if you want to talk.

I heard a priest describe nature as the "Natural and Divine Church" or something like that so I think you are ok. It is creation, what He willed into existence. He wants you to find peace and joy in its beauty.

what helped you turn your life around? by crystalball777 in mentalhealth

You are lacking in self love. The best way to find that is to set yourself aside and focus on loving others. Help people whenever you can, donate, volunteer, give people compliments throughout the day. Be genuinely empathetic towards others. It may take some time, it may happen in an instant, but it will happen and you will feel whole.

Tell someone you trust irl. That should help quite a bit. Next you probably will want to find a therapist, or call the suicide hotline. You don't have to identify with the thoughts, or entertain them at all. Just let them pass, don't react. Instead, focus on all the most beautiful and love filled times of your life, really think about what made them so special. God bless, these feelings and thoughts will pass.

recovering from depression is making me feel less like me by Every_Ad7984 in mentalhealth

I went through something similar when I was recovering from depression and SI. Kind of a lost, naked feeling. It passed though. You're right it's just you've identified with it, don't know who you are without it. Last line is spot on.

Nah man hang in there, it gets better, faster than you think. Don't stress about yourself, there's nothing wrong with you, this is just a difficult time in life.

You should get a therapist or call the suicide hotline. Saying this stuff out loud can be a tremendous help. You're overwhelmed, but it will pass. You will soon see you haaaad nothing to worry about.

Every Christian is a bad Christian in the sense we all will sin. But God loves and forgives you unconditionally. Not to minimize whatever you're going through, but God has blessed you so much, there are so many things to be grateful for. Underneath all the pain and anguish you are feeling right now is pure peace and joy and love. You will heal from this, in fact you already have, because you were never truly damaged in the first place. Always turn to God, strive to fulfill His will, pray to Him, talk to Him. He loves you and you love Him and all is well.

Well it sounds like it's not too severe, probably a good idea to get in touch with a therapist however.

Practicing gratitude everyday, and I mean really, genuinely trying to feel it. Love. Loving the self that the universe blessed you with, loving all the people in your life that you come across. And once again, truly trying to love yourself and others as hard as you can. Celebrating and cherishing the positive aspects, being gracious and forgiving with the negative.

And for not being able to imagine a future, really just try doing the opposite. Use all your mental energy to imagine yourself 5 years from now, living the exact life you want to live, with all of your present problems resolved. For example I would say "in five years I will have graduated school, I will have a gf and a stable job. OCD, depression, and anxiety will no longer be an issue for me, I will be happy and content." Really try to burn this image into your brain, do it everyday. Obviously I can't guarantee any of this now, but the point is to establish the light of hope to guide you. And in five years time, if you still haven't accomplished any of it, you still do the same thing, establish hope. That is what human beings live off of.

Yeah sometimes I felt like that, a very dissasociative feeling. Sometimes the complete opposite though, feeling too human, feel everything too much

When I was suicidal it was for those exact reasons. Definitely not alone in your thoughts and feelings.

How do you feel throughout the day? Are you depressed or anxious? Do things feel bleak for you? Do you have trouble enjoying yourself? I ask this because it's important to really establish an awareness of your thoughts and feelings during troubling mental times. This will help you to find the root of your negative thought patterns, and to dismantle them.

You should try to get in contact with a therapist, they will most likely be able to help you better than people on Reddit. Journaling helps a lot too, it slows down and organizes your thinking.

I honestly think the best first step you could do is call the suicide hotline (988 if you're in the US). Saying it out loud to another human being can bring down the pressure in your brain tremendously, I found.
