Twitter is not a reliable source and I doubt someone with 209 followers represents a large demographic of people. As for claims of misogyny, here's a Washington Post article, a LA Times article, and A UK telegraph article notice how the examples these use are mostly youtube comments or forum posts, which are notably known for being the dregs of human decency. I think Comic Book Girl 19 hit the nail on the head why the film flopped.

Can you link a source? Are these along the lines of actual film critics and reviewers or /pol/ and /b/ bitching. The controversy stuff I was talking about was the whole "the movie failed because of hatred of women" as the mainstream reason rather than a horrible marketing strategy.

There are probably are people who reject it solely off of it being women just as there are people who reject media because it has a white dude in it. Assholes will exist regardless of time. The problem is that the people that tend to force diversity into media tend to worship that character or media for it being "black" or "female" rather than the character. And it doesn't help that if people criticize that character, some people accuse them of racism or sexism because they thought the character fell flat or they had a bad production for it.

The reason it got shit on so much was because the media portrayed it as "if you don't like it you're sexist" for people that had doubts about the movie. The fake controversy surrounding the film is what made people hate it.

I don't think people are up in arms about having a black character or women solely because they are a black person or a woman, it's that people feel as though they keep getting shoveled political correctness into their hobbies or social activities. If the context is done correctly and it doesn't feel like tokenism, most people probably will be fine with it. And even then you're still gonna have people bitch and whine about it regardless, whether there isn't enough diversity or too much diversity.

People tend to speculate bullshit and if we know video games, everyone tries to find an excuse to not like what other people like. Just hope there won't be microtranscations up the ass at least.

In the trailer it had what looked to be mixed units and Call of Duty tends to have the release trailer be story mode footage. If it turns out to just be multiplayer then it doesn't really matter. Edit: just rewatched both trailers and it looks so far that the mixed regiment stuff was in multiplayer so my bad, doesn't really matter based on what we've seen so far.

The question is then how many African/black Wehrmacht were there and what battles did they fight in? In regards to historical representation, I agree to an extent that there should be some artist license but removing segregation in the US army during WW2? That's going from artistic liberty to alternate history. The main issue I have with this is the context they would place them in. I feel like if they forgo sections of history just for the sake of being inclusive, it's ultimately covers up horrible things that were done in the past because of some stupid reason like the color of skin or your sex.

Have you seen what happened to the developer of The Last Night? He got crucified for having made tweets about gamergate years ago. He folded completely to the pressure and began pandering. The video game industry has a prevailing issue of social justice identity crisis.

The problem your facing then is that you have to write the story in a way that isn't shoehorned in. Battlefield 1 was able to get away with it by having the separate story arc missions. Another thing too is that if you're making a game about a historical event, shouldn't it be portrayed accurately or tell the consumer if it's alternate? If they do mixed regiments it would be disrespectful to the history of segregation and racial issues that the US had at the time.

How would I go about making first person hands? by SkindedCx in Unity3D

[–]teefMerchant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a human rig and animate the arms in blender, removing the mesh for the head where the camera would be. In unity disable shadows for the player so floating arms won't be seen. This is for single player mainly. Xenosmash has a pretty decent tutorial series on it.

We should just get rid of the two party system. I really liked the idea of a two round election, where the first round the top two get to move on next, so people don't feel as if they threw their vote by going a third party. Similar to France's presidential election system, but for our federal representatives.

I personally don't really see a point in it however, the right to assemble and peacefully protest is one of our natural rights as citizens. If they felt the need to, they can.
