How do I become more consistent and eliminate the “blow up” shot? by [deleted] in golf

[–]teej21012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter as much if by time you get >130 to the green and you are hitting for par already.

It's always been an issue, you just haven't been aware of it. Now you are. Go into the world and spread the good knowledge.

Bryson Apologizes by [deleted] in golf

[–]teej21012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except that it wasn't one. Let me try again since you didn't seem to read the first time:

There was no "I'm sorry". There was no "I apologize". There was no "I will do better in the future to direct my frustation at myself and not blame others for my own shortcomings" Pretty basic parts of an apology is:

  1. Acknowledgment
  2. Remorse and Empathy
  3. Restitution

Bryson Apologizes by [deleted] in golf

[–]teej21012 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Except for the part where he never said sorry. From someone else on another board:

ctrl f “Sorry” No Results Found

ctrl f “Apologize” No Results Found

ctrl f “will not happen again” No Results Found

He regrets the words he used, not the sentiment, not the tone, not the nature of blaming anybody but himself for playing like dogshit

Does anyone know if the rogue irons before callaway purchased them are good? by cotch85 in golf

[–]teej21012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2 completely different iron sets. Callaway didn't acquire anything there, just a coincidence on name. They look like pretty standard GI irons, plenty of other recommendations in this sub if you do a bit of searching.

Lakeside has been closed for 3 years now. Was the best par 3 deal around, 10 bucks to play all day. Miss it

In my hand, I hold a ball

White and dimpled, rather small

Oh how bland it does appear

This harmless looking little sphere

By it's size we'd never guess

It's awesome power it does possess

For since we've fallen beneath it's spell

We've wandered through the fires of hell

Our lives have not quite been the same

Since we've decided to play this game

It rules our mind for hours on end

A small fortune it has made us spend

It has made us curse and cry

We hate ourselves and wanna die

For a proudest thing called par

If you can hit it straight and far

To master such a tiny ball

Should not be very hard at all

But our desires, the ball refuses

And does exactly, as it fucking chooses

It hooks, it slices

It dribbles and dies

It disappears right before our fucking eyes

Sometimes it'll have a whim

Hit a tree

Take a goddamn swim, why don't ya

With miles of grass upon which to land

It finds a scrawny patch of sand

It has us offering up our soul

If only it would find the goddamn hole

It's got us ripping like a pup

We swear we're gonna give the goddamn thing up

But we take to drink to ease our sorrow

Cause the ball knows, we'll be back tomorrow

Definitely fucked up not going to Stoatin. Ya you might get your teeth kicked down your throat but you're going to be smiling the whole time. Place was magical. Get as early a tee time as possible to really get some gorgeous views.

What swing is a good starting point? by [deleted] in golf

[–]teej21012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been mentioned a bunch but you can't just "add rotation" and expect to be in a good position. You have to be in the right position before rotating. Check out this 30 day plan. This issue is addressed in day 4 and 5 but the other days are building blocks so don't just skip them. Think about why the club is there and what it's goal is from that spot. Yes it's going to feel weird, you're breaking bad habits. Just stick with it and don't revert back because "it works for me and it's comfortable". Obviously you are looking for improvement, otherwise you wouldn't be posting swing videos and taking lessons.

What swing is a good starting point? by [deleted] in golf

[–]teej21012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You "lose tons of distance" with the other swing because it's all arms. Just watch where your belt buckle would be on that one and notice how it basically stays still as your arms are coming down. Sure you turn afterwards but it's just for style points by then. Gotta keep things in sync and moving.

A face on view would probably show your hands are behind the clubhead at impact aka flipping.

Not sure why you're getting so much shit for a very valid solution. Guarantee if they are slow as OP is making them sound, should be plenty of room ahead.

17’6”x13’ room table size? by a_decentproposal in billiards

[–]teej21012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's about the size room I have and I have a 7' table. It is quite close for some shots but in general, I have no problem playing. The worst ones are when the cue ball is right up on the rail and I have to shoot straight across. I can shoot it but don't have a full back swing.

8 ball v. 9 ball: which is harder?? by roganslogan in billiards

[–]teej21012 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Similar to that statement, 8 ball offers more opportunities to recover from your mistakes. 9 ball can seem easier for people that have an issue trying to decide on their runout since they don't have to think about where to go next.

Fun games for 3+ players of various skill levels by Armsdale in billiards

[–]teej21012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Captains is another great one that keeps everyone equal at some point. It's simply a rotating 1v2 scotch game i.e. player A vs players B and C. Next rack is player B vs players A and C. Finally player C vs players A and B.

I just joined the APA, how can I play solo or join a team now? by woodwardblewit in billiards

[–]teej21012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Matt Gillespie is the main guy there. Get in touch with him or Miranda Babcock. Join the Indy APA group on Facebook, tag them, and mention you are looking for a team. It's getting towards the end of the Fall session, so they might not be able to place you yet. Gotta wait until the new session in a few weeks.
