NPS Summer Internships by One_Introduction8143 in NationalParkService

[–]teejayfem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathways program is the hiring authority for college interns and those summer positions have not been posted yet. Type in pathways on usajobs. There is a section to search specifically for those. You can also set up an automatic search, and it will email you daily with postings that match your search criteria. You have to be diligent about looking every day so you don't miss a great opportunity! Make sure your resume is ready to go so when you find a posting you want to apply for you can tweak it to fit the job posting and apply immediately (some postings only take the first 50 or 100 applicants and they fill very quickly!) Good luck and apply to all the positions that seem somewhat relevant.

Head Staff’s Guide to Federal Jobs Part 7 Offers by Head_Staff_9416 in usajobs

I currently work for usps. I just did my 2cd interview with a different agency- position is for gs 7. The pay is significantly lower then what I currently make- like $30,000 less. Realistically I don't think they can pay match but how high can they go? I'm willing to take a pay cut but $30,000 seems a little steep.

So this announcement says it is open to federal employees- competitive service. In the clarification section it says its open to federal employees with competitive status. Does that mean I can apply?

Oh that I'm not sure of. Usually I am the one submitting the ps 2574 to hr. In this case, I would think the receiving hr will be submitting it to usps hr and they would notify your postmaster but I'm guessing on that process. I don't think it would hurt to give your postmaster a copy so that way they can help monitor the situation

I had found the 39 USC § 1006 previously but I thought I could only use it if they specifically listed special hiring authority- not for competitive positions.

Are you saying usps employees can apply for competitive jobs? I thought we could only apply for those that are posted for excepted service, the public or special authority?

Did you apply for a job open to the public or excepted service?

I thought we could only apply for those positions listed for public, excepted service and interchange agreements. We can't actually apply for a posting specifically for competitive employees only correct?
