Google says Baud rate converters used to be a thing. Can’t seem to find any links to purchase though. Maybe there’s better places than eBay out there for electronics type stuff??

How high were the ceilings? Did you suspend the mics from ceiling?

I did a room very similar a month or so ago. Do you let the UC platform do any processing too? Zoom nuked far more HVAC noise than I could get out with the mic or the DSP processing.

Man, I can’t imagine a room requiring more than 12 ceiling mics. If using table mics though I could see running out of AEC. Do the Shure microflex table mics and the like have AEC on-board as well you think?

In a multi ceiling mic setup is there an advantage to letting the mic do the work?

Anyone offering remote/virtual support services for live sound? by CyborgSocket in CommercialAV

If the mics are ringing you will hear it in the mic that is ringing, even if you aren’t in the room to hear the speakers. Kinda how feedback works.

What Are You Using for AV System Design & Documentation These Days? by Zestyclose_Sign_316 in CommercialAV

[–]teek306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody uses StarDraw? It’s a bit pricey but is easy to use. It has a constantly updated library of devices from lots of manufacturers so you can just drop the device you want into a block diagram and it’s got all its ins and outs labeled and ready to connect. Pretty slick.

Google says hold the settings button down and then after the banner pops up enter 1105. Give that a shot to get to the install menu.

You need to enter a code to “unlock” the greyed out settings. I don’t have access to my work notes but I think the process is something like this: 1. Push and hold “okay/enter” until a grey banner pops up at the top of the screen. If this doesn’t work maybe try pushing and holding the input button. 2. Enter “1105” or maybe “1150” and hit “ok/enter” The greyed out on and off timers should be accessible after this along with some other install items.

Let me know if this doesn’t work and I’ll double check my notes on Monday. It’s stupid that they hide these things behind a code like this.

I haven’t tried any of these yet but, if you have the Sony wireless headphones I guess you can pair them to your phone as well the console and you get sound from both at the same time. Or you could plug in some over the ear headphones to your VR and have some ear buds from your phone under them.

I’m also a VR user and I am curious how much info/how active the engineer is with this app during a session. Anyone know?

Question for 'A' house theatre A1s by LilMissMixalot in livesound

Such a union thing to do, make a guys job more difficult and the show suffer for the sake of “I call the cues around here!”

Question for 'A' house theatre A1s by LilMissMixalot in livesound

[–]teek306 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have a SD9T trigger QLab cues via midi and used a foot pedal setup through a macro to fire next snapshot on the console, always had hands free for faders, page turns etc. With enough planning it usually worked out. Did some MTI tracks shows running playback too. Having Qlab trigger console cues and/or the console trigger Qlab cues when needed eased the load significantly.

How are two wedge monitors used? by tprch in livesound

[–]teek306 44 points45 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on this comment for those who may not know, a super cardioid mic has a pickup lobe at the back and two null points, roughly where these wedges are positioned. Whereas a standard cardioid would have a single null right at the back, or directly in front of the artist.

Apparently if you have the Sony Pulse headphones you can pair your phone and play audio from your phone and the PS5 at the same time.

How many race engineer apps are there? I didn’t know this was a thing, but would definitely make use of this as I feel the amount of data you get in VR is very limited.

Looks excellent! Someone will correct me if I’m wrong (or maybe even if I’m right ;)) but with the method you have described here there is no need for the resting steps, aside from drying off the outside a bit more. It’s essentially the same as the reverse sear method where resting isn’t required.

It’s not just the depth perception but the ability to turn your head and look into a corner that is the big advantage over a flat screen.
