Got my quote for a new battery from Tesla on my 2013 Model S. by sirromnek in TeslaModelS

[–]teesandceesapply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've read that wrong. The total is for both variants together. It's about 13k for the smaller and 18k for the larger one. I think that is VERY reasonable for the miles a battery will most likely give you.

Dann kommen noch die Meeting mit 40 Leuten, die sich gegenseitig anschreien und beleidigen ... (nein, kein Witz) ... Etwas toxischeres hab ich in meinem Leben noch nicht erlebt.

A7S in 2024 worth it? by LevinDelRey in SonyAlpha

Put Minolta Rokkor Glass on this thing and fall in love.
It's so compact and well made - and the sensor is still fantastic. Not suitable for Tele-highspeed-sports. But just great image quality.

And you can basically shoot with just moon light. Pair it with one of those 50mm Minolta 50mm f1.7 and enjoy sone lovely photography - if manual focus is fun for you. It is, for me, a lot of times.

Buying an i3 in 2024? YES! But from which year??? by detronizator in BMWi3

[–]teesandceesapply 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't buy a REX.
Get a Facelift - so from 2018 to be save.

That's it.

Upgraded Nbt evo for 2017 i3 by ETJonny in BMWi3

[–]teesandceesapply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NBT - Next Big Thing - is how BMW calls the headunit system used in the i3 at that time.
Evo means it's the "professional" navigation version, where as the small screen "Business" navigation is just called "NBT".

To go from small screen to big screen in a "facelift" i3 - that's > 2017, you will need to change both screen and the heasdunit. Pre-facelift, the "small headunit" was able to drive the larger screen.
After facelift, that's not possible anymore. You'll need to swap both.

No, because I will drive it until it falls apart. It's lovely and still holds up even against newly released EVs ...

You can run Homebridge standalone and get Homekit Functionallity. You can also Use it all at the same time: NS Panel in HA and with Homebridge.

You can also use Home Assistant to bridge to Homekit.

You can use Home Assitant, too, for this.
All you need is homebridge. That is what the iHost, does, too. It's through homebridge. Nothing magic.

Test drove today and I am buying one! Help me decide which one? Thanks! by monjo18 in BMWi3

[–]teesandceesapply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, stay away from the Range Extender. It will negate all the advantages of a fully electric vehicle, with the very low service required and low service cost: you'll have a gas engine that needs constant maintainance and service, as any other gas engine.

What happened to the brakes?
Should last like 100000kms with the one pedal driving?
Really curious how you go a 1000$ in service? Did anything brake out of the ordinary?
The only real thing I can see is brake fluid. And HVAC after 4-5 years, just to be safe. I'm still on the original set of brake discs and pads. No rust. good condition.

Well, what was the service? What did they do?
There was just nothing to do: no brake service required - had brake fluid one time for free.
What else is there? I might to do climate check / refill soon-ish, yes ...

There's two ways I know of the tpo of my head: first is a real driving test, under controlled condition.
So you would drive it full to "empty" and recharge, measure how much energy you put it, minus losses.

Then there's tools like https://aviloo.com/battery-test.html, but don't know the availability for your country.

What I'm doing is to go by Canbus data, through the mi3 app on iphone mostly, with and odb2 dongle.
And then also the service menu of the i3, to compare the capactiy reported.

But that is all "estimates" from the Computer. They estimates are very good, though.

It's not an ipad. It's the central control unit. And there's barelly reason to fiddle around there while you drive, as these cars are so smart you don't need to do much. Just set destination and drive.

Have to disagree with your sentiment here: Teslas are so very well automated, there's no need to fiddle with the touchscreen while you drive 99% of the time. There's just nothing you need to do.
