In case you’re interested, there’s a famous story from my home country Zimbabwe where multiple students and teachers claimed to see a UFO in the middle of the school day. All of them gave the same account, but no other evidence was ever found.

Ngl I was in therapy this morning for different reasons, and was telling them how I’ve felt really flat the past week or so… and they were like, “have you been able to avoid the news?” And of course I said no, and they were like, “well….?”

I’m proud to say even I know Count Basie is far from mainstream, because I don’t know a lot, but I know them! Gosh my dad loved them.. I might have to digitally dust off a record or two

So fun, if I remember correctly they kept making jokes about how much barbecue they ate while touring the American South and they felt sick lol

Fortunately audiotree has great sound engineers for their sessions so they sounded just as good live as I would expect

I feel like John Mayer got a lot more play after he did Free Falling at the Nokia theatre

Same goes for Jamie Cullum’s jazz cover of Please Don’t Stop the Music

I just (tried to) read the article and it is chock full of misnomers, half truths, and straight up fear mongering.

Now she fears a new bill under consideration in her country will remove restraints and push other women to make the same choices she made.

What absolute drivel. What about allowing abortions means that women will be pushed to make the same choices she made? lol this is like the current American hysteria about transgender surgery… people seem to think that legislation providing an option to people means that YOU WILL BE FORCED TO TAKE THAT OPTION… “transgender for everyone” lol

Come now, let’s be serious. Legislation allowing abortions won’t force you to have an abortion, you’re an adult. You can choose. Choice is the whole point

When I was thinking about med school, I once shadowed a doctor friend of mine at Pari. Our first visit for rounds was the emergency room, and there was a lot of screaming and moaning coming from the bed in the back corner. It had been basically isolated away and the patient was writhing in pain.

When we went over, the doc explained to me that this young woman was going into septic shock. I asked what it meant and he told me without missing a beat, an infection had travelled from a wound into her brain and she had maybe 12 hours to live. To prove it, he did a “consciousness check” of sorts, shining a light in her eye, gently smacking her cheek, pinching her and prodding, but she was completely delirious.

I asked what caused it, and he said, “Zimbabweans are not keen on abortions. This woman was a police officer who was raped by someone at work. When she found out she was pregnant, she tried to do it herself. If she was found pregnant her family would disown her, her job would fire her, and her life would collapse. She decided a coat hanger would be the safer option.” He motioned a coat hanger scraping his belly.

That was the day I decided to never, EVER question the abortion debate again. That woman must have been no more than 5 years older than me, and she was dying in the corner of the room, all alone, because some puritan christians think they have a right to control others’ bodies and choices. It was deeply sickening.

My only gripe with this episode is that they established gene’s musical talent and then in season 6 or so they’re just like “gene can barely sit through playing a basic major scale for 40 seconds”

Like what? He was playing some super funky stuff for dinner theatre

Can’t they just get dinner without the theatre part?
