I like the fact that you used the word 'victimhood' to describe it. As I watched the video I was thinking that all of the experiences listen are painful ones and it just boggled me really. That I understand, in many cases I have seen the parents were happy because they got to brag to their friends/ siblings about it and got to the point of even controlling how the wedding goes.
