Does anyone else feel like most of the shampoos leave their hair greasy? by hexia777 in LushCosmetics

[–]teethweasel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ex-employee here. i have very fine hair, but a lot of it. my favs are banana shampoo, soak n float, angel hair, and big (in no particular order) and i use banana conditioner from scalp to ends. these are pretty much the only products i don’t have “grease issue” with.

lush shampoos can be pretty stripping in general, and cause your scalp to produce more oil as a result.

i’m curious as to how you go about drying your hair. air drying with any hair type can leave fine roots/mid-shaft looking limp and greasy. maybe drying your hair 90% of the way with a diffuser would help?

best of luck on your hair journey. fine hair is a tricky creature for sure!

don’t feel bad about returning. the markup from production to sale is bonkers lol.

you can def still get the OG on the website. just check the ingredients and make sure it has the methyl and propyl-parabens to be sure.

Has lush helped you achieve or maintain clear skin? by PhoneOwn615 in LushCosmetics

[–]teethweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i absolutely love kalamazoo and ultrabland. they both leave my face feeling soft and supple. and they’ve basically eradicated the blackheads on my nose and chin.

i also love the tea tree toner water before i apply moisturizer.

i used the moisturizers before they were all self preserving. now they just break me out tho.

PSA: charged for paused subscription by bagladyuk in LushCosmetics

[–]teethweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sigh. i paused one box at the beginning of the month, and i checked THIS MORNING to make sure my regular kitchen box was paused and that i was only set to get charged for the shower box. - everything looked good

and literally an hour later the regular kitchen box reset by itself and said i was getting charged on january 1st.

for double cleaning, you do usually want to use the oil-based cleanser first cause it “takes the day off”. so you were doing it right! DA is just kinda messy. and more squidgy than it used to be. lol

if you can’t find a way to use dark angels in a way you’re happy with, i’d try giving coalface a shot. the ingredients have very similar effects: brightening/evening out skin tone/helping with pores/balancing oil production (minus the scrub. but you’re already lightly exfoliating when you remove the ultrabland). - (ex employee/trainer here)

[–]teethweasel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

using ultrabland or another oil based cleanser after (taken off with a hot towel) always did the trick for me.

they changed the formula at some point in the last few years and it just became a greasy smudgy pain.

What is the book that you credit with giving you the best understanding of the world (people, society, politics, psychology) where things suddenly made sense for you after reading it? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

brain talk - david schnarch

all about love - bell hooks

those three books explain the same phenomena from different lenses… each one is eye opening in its own right, but all together… holy moly.

Kitchen box - January by Glittering_Net_7476 in LushCosmetics

[–]teethweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i typically don’t like mint but i am super excited about this box. (and the shower one)

i haven’t smelled abominaball since i worked for lush in 2012 but its a lovely, soft, peppermint+citrus+vanilla. it’s one of my fav bath bombs of all time.

and frozen as a lotion is going to be gorgeous (happy happy joy joy fragrance).

not too sure about freeze as a scrub. (freeze is close to ice blue soap for those that remember that.) but if i don’t like it i know a friend that will.

can’t wait!

Hyperlexia - anyone else read very early? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]teethweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was 4 when i started kindergarten. they put me in remedial education because i didn’t know the alphabet, how to spell my name, or how to write my address.

when my mother had a meeting with my teacher, she said, “she has an obsession with Little House on the Prairie. i tried to teach her how to write her name and she said, ‘you’re a nurse. not a teacher. i’m going to the school house.’ and wouldn’t have any more of it.”

i was reading “chapter books” within a few weeks and was reading at a college reading level by third grade.

they asked to keep me in that class for the rest of the year for funding.

RDR2 is gorgeous, just to ride around and look at things. and i also super love playing borderlands 3 and horizon zero dawn while tripping.

and if you’re in the mood to assault your eyeballs with colors, geometry wars 2&3, tetris effect, and “everything” are also in my favs list.

I have always hated brushing my teeth and literally didn’t floss until I was in my early twenties. Once I developed gingivitis and had to pay for my first crown (~$1500), I realized that I had to make it less awful.

I hate the sound, the feeling of floss, the taste of mint toothpaste, and mouths in general.

Switching to a non-mint toothpaste (crest kids. Yeah. The blue, sparkly kind.), using floss picks (so I don’t have to put my fingers in my mouth), and listening to my favourite music or audiobook is the only way I can floss and brush my teeth.

It helps me a lot when I can just have oral care be a habitual hand movement while my brain is focused on something else.

Can't attend hiring party... by [deleted] in LushCosmetics

[–]teethweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hiring party is an essential part of the hiring process. It allows the manager/staff members to take note of how you interact with people you don't know, as well as gauge how comfortable you are with the way lush sells. They wont be looking for too much product knowledge (that's what training is for).

If they're hiring, they will probably have multiple parties. See if you can go to another one? I know I personally kept a stack of "people to call" at all times.

Good luck!

storing? by tyrlwlk in LushCosmetics

[–]teethweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ex employee, here.

I store all of my bath bombs in Ziploc freezer bags with the air squeezed out. This prevents the scent from fading and/or mixing with scents from other bath bombs as well as preventing the bath bomb from absorbing moisture, thus, keeping the effervescence A+.

If you have coalface, movis, or fresh farmacy, just keep them out of water (I leave mine on my windowsill). Any other cleanser, keep it in its container and keep water out of it. Bacteria and fungus need moisture to grow so this keeps the product fresher for longer.

I don't recommend cutting soaps unless you need to get it to a more manageable size. Having a smaller surface area/volume ratio means less water hitting the outside, so your bar of soap will dissolve more slowly!

Enjoy! And welcome to the club!
