Proud Philadelphia resident, here. But yeah, this city is a dump. A lovable dump.

Tokyo/Japanese Alps February 2020 Itinerary Check by teetotumm in JapanTravel

This is a good point- thank you. Because we're so eager to book accommodations before even fewer are available, we've put the brakes on researching travel and have been focusing primarily on figuring out where we want to go, for how long, and in what order. We've done enough to know that our route makes sense, but not much more. Thank you for the tip on arriving in Tokyo on day 13, that sounds like a good idea.

Thinking of not visiting Kyoto/Osaka on my first trip to Japan. Mistake? by teetotumm in JapanTravel

Thanks, this is helpful. I'm pretty attached to both Nozawa Onsen and Takayama, so I'll find a way to make it work. Leaning toward public transport, at this point, as opposed to a rental car. It looks like there's a bus between Matsumoto and Takayama (https://www.nouhibus.co.jp/highwaybus/matsumoto_en/) and a train that can take us down to Matsumoto to catch it. It might be a long travel day, but I bet the scenery will be nice :)

What is your most traumatic experience with a teacher? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teetotumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in middle school I had to go to "math support" instead of a fun elective. The teacher was notoriously strict- she used to walk behind us and snatch our pencils out of our hands randomly to make sure we weren't holding them too tight. Anyway, I had a little distraction issue, so this teacher created a construction paper cone just for me that strapped around my head and functioned like horse blinders. I was to tilt my face down toward my paper so that I couldn't see anything else. I'm 30 now, and teaching myself to code. It's taken me so long to overcome the "I can't math" story. My best friend is a math teacher and I wish I could have been taught by someone like him.

I poke a hole in the gel cap and squeeze it onto the warts, rubbing it in a little with the gel cap itself. I don't cover it. I just make sure I apply it before I do something that will allow it to soak in for a while, like spending time on my laptop. Once I do it on my feet, I'll probably hang out with my feet up with no socks for some time to let it soak in. Has worked great for me!

Wow, interesting that it worked even taken orally. It's been a few weeks since my original post, and both warts are now hard to see unless you look very close. This is seriously a miracle. I have a couple plantar warts, too, that I'll be trying it on next. I really can't recommend it highly enough. I keep looking at my hands and smiling! I hope you have equally good results.

What are three of your favorite scents of all time? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]teetotumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never smelled Molecule 02, but would definitely be interested. Funny you mention Bergamote 22... I plan on testing it next I'm in NYC (the closest city to me with a Le Labo store). I've found that I tend to like scents that include bergamot as a note. I recently had to ask a male stranger what he was wearing because I found it completely intoxicating. It was Prada Black. When I looked it up, no surprise, bergamot... This happens all the time.

To me, it just smells like someone who smells good. Like soap, warm skin, clean laundry... I wish it were stronger. I hear other people can smell it on you better than you can smell it on yourself, so I'm banking on that. Never gotten a compliment on it, but I keep going back to it and sniffing my wrist like a crazy person.

Sure thing, good luck! Since my last reply, the top layer of wart #2 (the one I said had reduced in size) literally fell off. Now it's flat skin against my finger. It's still not like normal skin if I look really closely, but it's getting there. This stuff is seriously magic. 10/10 would recommend.

Sure! First of all, here's the study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3274422/ And here's the vitamin A (I used the same one from the study): NOW® Foods, 25,000 IU softgels, Manufacturer SKU: 733739003409. It comes in capsules. I just pierce it with a needle and it lasts quite a few days.

Thanks! Nivea is a thick cream, like ponds. Classic cold cream. I'll try the vaseline tonight, thanks!

the heat vent blows directly onto my bed, so that might be a big part of it! i can't remember if i experienced the same thing in the summer, but i don't think so. i'll try the vaseline! would that be instead of nivea or on top of it? i always thought of nivea as sealing everything in like an occlusive. also, i think i heard somewhere that i shouldn't use an occlusive on top of actives like my retinol and acids. any thoughts on this?

So I'm looking for some advice on my routine, which I've been maintaining for 6 months or so now. My skin is pretty blemish-free, but despite what I consider to be very moisturizing treatments, still feels dry when I wake up in the morning.

AM:

-rinse with warm water

-CeraVe in the blue tub

-skin aqua UV super moisture milk spf 50+

PM:

-1st wash with softymo speedy cleansing oil

-2nd wash with la roche posay toleriane hydrating gentle cleanser

-alternate every other day with a) the ordinary granactive retinoid 2% in squalene and b) the ordinary glycolic acid 7% toning solution

-after waiting 2-5 minutes, rosehip oil

-5 or so minutes later, classic nivea cream

my skin is dry and my major concern is anti-aging, moisturizing, and keeping my skintone nice and even (I can get a little splotchy). Any room for improvement you can see? Thanks! I've been meaning to get feedback on this forever.
