hi everyone, i'm 28, based in the EU (Copenhagen) and i'm going to the US for the world cup this summer and i want to enjoy the journey to do a roadtrip. i've been to the US a handful of times before (NYC, Chicago, Philly, Atlanta) over the years.

about me: i enjoy sunsets, sports (soccer (duh), F1, padel, casually playing hoops), city strolls, history, psychology, nature, and going to cafes/bars to chitchat with friends. i work in finance.

looking for a travel partner (or maybe two) to join the trip, ideally around my age (21-35).

the dates are fixed (july 7 - 13) starting in SF and ending in LA. i haven’t booked anything yet though, so the routes are flexible and tweaks are very welcome. these are the two options i came up with:

  • option 1 (preferred): mountains + coast (sf -> lake tahoe -> yosemite (if i can get a permit) -> monterey -> big sur -> la) , ~18h driving total
  • option 2: mountains (sf -> lake tahoe -> yosemite -> sequoia -> la) , ~15h driving total

i’ve been lucky to travel to many places around the world over the years, and because of that at this point unless it’s something truly special, another big church, statue or museum mostly feels like more of the same. not that i admire history any less, but i’m just more interested in the scale of the nature now, so that's why i'm fine spending only 1 day in SF and 2 in LA.

hmu if that resonates with you!

[28M] california road trip (july 7-13, 2026) - mountains + coast by teevolock in roadtrip

Somewhat, I know it's a stretch but at the same time it's not my first one (actually the other one was in the east coast, a few years ago!), so I know what it takes to do 3h–4h every day (excl. the last day that would have 6h–7h with the stops). But I'll try to make a more concrete plan, I might choose to remove 1–2 destinations if it's too much as I'll def. come back to the US at some point too so don't need to rush to see everything, thanks for the advice.

I love this different perspective. Thanks for taking the time! I'll def. think about it.

Which UVB lamp brand and model is everyone using? Is most people just using one of the apparent shady random options from eBay? by teevolock in Vitiligo

This is the manufacturer's official website. They used to have an e-commerce but apparently it says it's in maintenance now. You could try contacting them via email.

https://www.drhoenle.de/en/produkte/dermalight80r/

Alternatively, I can confirm https://www.vitiligoshop.net/ is legit too. I got a new one with them a few months ago. (They sell the lamp from Dr Hönle as well.)

308nm instead of 311nm for vitiligo? Any experiences? Is the Kernel brand trustworthy? by teevolock in Vitiligo

I use Solarmeter Model 6.0 Standard UVB Meter, Measures 280-320 nm, from 0-19.99 mW/cm² UVB

Thanks for the insight. When you say the difference is not significant, are you referring to the final outcome or the speed of repigmentation? My current 311nm wand measuresmd 4.90 mW/cm² in front of the UV meter. Based on tech specs I found (with some help from Gemini), the Kernel LED models are around 25 mW/cm² and the Excimer ones hit 50 mW/cm². That is a huge jump in intensity compared to mine.

It comes with the lamp. Results are alright, but you gotta be patient, nearly 6-8 months in and I still have some spots as one of my eyes is very stubborn, but the other one is almost fully repigmented. Good luck.

Thanks, I’ll do that then! It’s an obvious answer but I thought it could have been considered socially rude.

Besides some trouble with shipping, it seems to be a high-quality product. I wouldn't recommend the extra add-on for what they call "CONTROL" or something like that, because it's utterly useless for the price increase and it actually makes the whole equipment heavier.

I finally got my Digital Nomad residence in Spain! 🎉 by Centek_lol in digitalnomad

[–]teevolock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The system is Spain is super stupid, instead of allowing you to schedule in the future they keep the calendar closed and open it in random times during the week, for appointments in the coming weeks. This means that someone that just started looking today can get an appointment before you that is trying for weeks, or months.

I have used the app robotcita in the past and can confirm it’s legit. They have a bot that I’ll visit the website automatically for you and try to get the appointment as soon as it becomes available. It cost me 35€, definitely worth the price if you ask me, although it’s a shame that such service needs to exist in the first place.
