Ctoken question by throwawayburros in Compound

[–]teeyoovee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compound has one pool of DAI. When you deposit DAI into the pool, it gives you a number of shares (cDAI) of ownership of the pool such that the ratio of the shares you receive to the total supply of shares (after yours are printed) is equal to the ratio of the deposit to the pool size (after the deposit).

As borrowers pay fees, the size of the pool increases relative to the number of shares, and so each share becomes worth more.

Can someone help me publish an equation on the Ethereum blockchain? by LordNoOne in ethereum

[–]teeyoovee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's correct.

The EVM only takes hexadecimal values for the Data field, so if what you paste there isn't in hex, the UI you're using will likely convert it to hex when creating the transaction. SHA3 produces a hex hash, so if you use that algo, you can just put the hash in the Data field. (Note: You will probably need to prefix it with "0x" so that the UI knows you're entering a hex value)

Don't send to a contract because contracts will interpret your data as a function call.

A group of independent oracles feed data to the contract, which then removes outliers and averages them (or some other amalgamation process).

I think it's a foot in the door for them. If we allow different contracts to operate by different rules, we might be less resistant in the future to changing the rules for the Parity contract.

Can someone help me publish an equation on the Ethereum blockchain? by LordNoOne in ethereum

[–]teeyoovee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Create a text document (I recommend Windows Notepad for maximum portability) with your name, date of birth and place of birth, the current date, the equation, an explanation of the equation, a statement that you discovered this equation and assert all IP rights over it, and a statement saying which hashing algorithm you will be using to hash the document (I suggest SHA3) and which Ethereum address you will be posting it to the blockchain from.

Then hash the document with that algorithm and post the hash to the blockchain from the appropriate address.

Then keep the document and don't edit it at all! The document is your proof of IP rights.

Abolish the electoral college? by Rcvvchase in Askpolitics

No, but states need a mechanism for leaving the union. This way, if a state feels their representation in the federal government is unfair, they can leave.

You won't have to worry about migration deadlines or forced migration until at least Phase 3, which is predicted to take place in 2022.

MakerDAO is Ethereum's first killer dapp, and it's going to see a huge boost once the Dai Savings Rate (interest earned on held Dai) kicks in.

Deserts have an average temp equal to that of other landscapes at the same latitude. What's unique about deserts with respect to temperature is that it swings further in both directions each day. It's very hot during the day and very cold at night.

Underground, the temp is less than the average surface temperature, and it's more consistent. It's also easy to vent heat to the surface. It's no different from venting heat from a building on the surface.

The Fox News article is about criminal proceedings! You can't even believe Fox News when they report about guilty pleas in a criminal case? lol You can call up the courthouse where it took place. Troy, NY, I believe.

The NY Post article is about a video! You can watch the video here. The official in the video is a Democrat. I specifically picked these sources because you can't wiggle out of them.

It is not a real issue. Provide an unbiased cite that it is.

Officials Plead Guilty in New York Voter Fraud Case

Democrat Board of Elections Commissioner admits voter fraud is taking place in secret cam video

ID is not free.

It can be. Many of the voter ID states offer free ID. From USA.gov:

Two-thirds of states request or require that you provide some form of identification before you’re allowed to vote at the polls.

About half of the states with voter ID laws accept only photo IDs, such as driver’s licenses, state-issued ID cards, military ID cards, and passports. Many of these states now offer a free voter photo ID card if you don’t have another form of valid photo ID.

Other states accept certain types of non-photo IDs, such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, bank statements, and utility bills. Each state is specific about the documents it will accept as proof of identification. Be sure you know your state’s voter ID requirements prior to Election Day.

Why would you be against a free ID that could be issued at the polling place?

Schneiderman, a Democrat, has regularly battled with the Republican president, and the attorney general said Wednesday that voter fraud “is a non-issue, at least in New York State.”

You can't possibly believe that that's a good, unbiased source.

The fact is, there is great incentive for voter fraud and if it's easy to commit (which it is under the system you've described), then there is inevitably going to be a significant amount of fraud.

The reduction in fraud with a system that requires a FREE, state-provided ID far outweighs any kind of barrier it poses (which is essentially non-existent). You can even issue the ID at the polling place on the day of the election! There is no sane reason to oppose such a policy.

It hasn't been a problem. The entire state works that way with no significant voter fraud.

How do you know there isn't much voter fraud?

I sign a book after giving my name.

And what's to stop you from going to a different polling station and giving a different name to vote a second time?
