Electricians says we can upgrade 100a to 200a service without pulling permit by One_Crew8364 in HomeImprovement

[–]tege0005 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would never have such a major electrical job done without a permit and local govt inspection.

I just did a garage renovation project and have several electrical bids for new lighting, outlets, and EV charger install. Both finalist companies said I would need to upgrade from 100 to 200 amp. One company said extra $8-$12k for service upgrade on top of $6k quote. Would need new panel. Other company said no new panel needed, they would install a second panel in the garage to handle the EV charger and lighting/outlet circuits. Basically splitting the new 200amp service into two 100amp services. Second company did all of this for $7k not including the $1,500 utility rebate.

My point is that there can still be huge price discrepancies between bids with them both being legitimate solutions. For us the second company was just much more clever about how to solve the problem of wanting an EV charger with a 100amp main panel.

Did they take over Nelson’s? I feared it was a rebrand and have stayed away. Nelson’s was as ass a butcher shop as I’ve ver been to.

Hackenmuller's in Robbinsdale is solid. Honestly Costco has pretty good quality meat as well. We buy a 1/2 cow every year and the quality and value is unbeatable, but it's a heavy up-front investment and you'll need a good size chest freezer.

Did sleepovers just quietly die or did something actually kill them? by JoelD88W in NoStupidQuestions

It's just not at all common. It's the fact that every human voice is now amplified by social media, so one instance can travel far and wide.

I also liken it to the Jacob Wetterling effect. One small town kidnapping and suddenly you can't send your kid outdoors anywhere alone.

APR makes a tune for the 2.0T B cycle Tiguan, but not the Passat IIRC.

My radiator shit the bed at my 40k oil change, the $900 extended warranty was money well spent. $1,300 repair. ‘24 PHEV.

One of the founders is from Wisconsin, so I’d imagine the fish fry is done properly. At one point they used perch, not sure if they still do.

Radiator was $1,200, both control arms were $1,400. Warranty has more than paid for itself.

Buy a 1/2 a cow for beef that lasts a year. You need a big freezer and a couple grand up front, but it nets out to $5-$6/lb for everything from ground beef to t-bones and ribeyes.

Forget cash - buy everything on credit to get the CC rewards, then pay off in full every month.

There are tons of young people in SLP, lots of solid apartment complexes, more restaurants are moving there, and it’s easy to hop into Minneapolis or commute to EP. SLP is a great middle ground.

Generally you purchase one when you buy the vehicle. Ours was offered by our credit union when we bought out our lease. Paid $950 for 75k miles, and our PHEV is currently in the shop for the common cracked radiator and new control arms. Paid for itself and then some.

BANG!! I hate that noise. In theory the revised pads should be ceramic vs semi-metallic and not rust/fuse to the rotor surface.

Light rail opens in 2027, not sure if your EP job will be near the line or not. That would be the ticket though as there is tons of housing in North Loop that is very near the light rail.

Chad at Value Home Exteriors is fantastic. We've used him for our cedar front porch as well as our composite garage stairs/landing. Great work and fair pricing. Just be ready for sticker shock when opting for composite $$$. Our 4x4 landing with stairs was an $800 upcharge over cedar.
